For $10,000 non-residents of Glen Ellyn District 89 may be able to attend school there, according to the Daily Herald article. I post under District 41 since it is completely mind boggling how the other Glen Ellyn district is addressing its shrinking enrollment. D41 also faces stagnant and shrinking enrollment. How have we addressed it? By proposing to build the Taj Ma Hadley, growing non-mandated programs, by hiring "space utilization" consultants, in tandem with a middle school guru which ultimately leads to program changes that add more mobiles.

Since the Pre-K at risk program was brought in house, the District has grown it to nearly twice the size it was when it was at the Park District. Perhaps this would be a good time for our Superintendent to pay a visit to D89 and see what kind of arrangement could be made. If D89 is willing to take on more out-of-district students, and the Pre-K program is bussing kids anyway.... Afterall, our Superintendent does pay her taxes to D89. Wouldn't it be a win-win situation. If all else fails, maybe the name of the Hadley consultant could be passed along, so that D89 would move from having too much space to needing some mobiles. Maybe there is a district in the area that can sell some of its surplus? On second thought, that probably wouldn't work for D89, they seem to be a much better run district without the surplus we have in D41 -- lots and lots of tax dollars!
