The mail carrier delivered the latest information about the work that a committee parents and staff have been working on in August with a consultant. Attached to the letter of explanation is the "Draft 1" of the Mission Statement and the "Hadley Belief Statement - Draft 1." Input is being requested by September 13 so that the committee can finalize the mission statement.
Show of hands -- How many received an invitation to serve on the committee?
P.S. I love the term "middle level learners" -- seems to have come straight out of the referendum material and the references to the National Middle School Association.
No, Rob, no mention of who was on the committee or how they were chosen for that matter. Sigh...
What is a bit interesting is that the consultant being paid to help us develop the mission statement and statement of beliefs was the previous director of the National Middle School Association (NMSA). Does that group sound familiar? It is the association that was touted by the district and GrowingD41 as providing evidence as to why the grade 5-8 school was a good idea. Remember the articles being distributed at the forums? Most, if not all, were published by the NMSA and there were even articles written by the consultant. I am not saying this is a bad thing, but it certainly raises questions. The biggest question I have, was raised already by another poster. Why hire someone to help write your mission statement? With all of the administrators we have, is there no one in the district that was considered to do so?
I at first laughed when I opened the envelope and read that the committee wanted parental input into what the mission statement should include, then my blood began to boil as I realized that my tax money was being spent to COPY and MAIL this pc crap to Hadley families. What a waste of time and resources.
