I already have WOW cable...but I have a rabbit ear TV which I want to hook up to cable. Will WOW charge an arm and a leg to come out and run cable to this one?
Anyone have an indepentent contractor that does this?
The only problem we have had with WOW is that they do not carry Versus.
Last May we had a new HDTV line run (very long and involved) and outlet installed. The charge was $19.99 and they credited it back, so it was free. Give them a call - the customer service is very good.
Dunno about the charge — but if you were happy with just rabbit ears, you'll probably be happy with just a “raw cable” feed to the old TV (no cable box). You'll be able to see only channels 1-100, but that's usually plenty for a seldom-used secondary TV. WOW does charge a monthly fee for the box.

Clam — why do you say that? My only WOW complaint (and it's a biggie) is really poor audio quality on most channels. What do you use... and why is it better? I'm thinking of trying AT&T's U-Verse. I can't imagine myself ever doing business wit Comcast.

Clam, I agree with your WOW assessment.....I have seen AT&T's UVerse and I will be getting UVerse when they finally decide to start selling it in my hood.....
Ted-thank you for your question. I use WOW. I have the basic package and I write a check for $54 a month. For that I get so-so quality, crappy customer service and average selection. Now that UVerse is in my 'hood, I will be switching...perhaps even today. I will be very happy to make that last call to WOW. The same call that two of my neighbors got to make...and I will tell you...they really want you to stay. So much so that they will upgrade you and lower your price.
Trust be told, I don't watch enough TV to care about cable...but I do hate WOW.

I use WOW for TV, internet and telephone, so switching will be a hassle. But I'm on my umpteenth set of providers for all, so I can do it again.
WOW was superior when it was Ameritech, but no more. I know that they monitor all of their channel feeds visually, but clearly no one is listening.
As I said, I'm curious about U-Verse, but want to find somewhere where I can listen to it over a really good speaker system first. HDTV is nice, but my ears are far more critical than my eyes. I'd rather watch a major motion picture on a 5˝ b&w screen with THX-approved surround sound than a 72˝ plasma set with 5˝ speakers. The emotion, the drama, is all in the soundtrack.
Theater is art. Radio is theater of the mind. Television is furniture.

DirectTV burned their bridge with me years ago. They insisted that they be paid for a month when we did not have service. They won the month — but lost a client for life.
Anyway, they don't offer the village government channel. (I know... I could still see the board meetings if I kept only basic cable for that alone... but as I say... no DirectTV in this household ever again. Or Sears, for that matter... but that's a whole 'nother story.)

To echo what Clam said, if you have WOW, tell them you want to deactivate on date X and they'll start throwing rebates and free upgrade offers your way. When I switched to U-verse and I called to cancel I got the serious sales pitch. Went with U-Verse anyway. The DVR user interface is flat out awful compared with Tivo. Other than that, and about 4 weeks of service kinks to start off with, the service is pretty good.

Well, I'm not sure I ever had "distorted" audio with WOW, I'm not sure what you mean. My (basic) WOW was analog but now, of course, everything is digital with Uverse. To be honest I haven't noticed a huge difference but I haven't investigated the audio feed out of U-verse too closely (whether it's 5.1 or not, etc.). I currently go from the Uverse box to my almost-10-year-old Harmon Kardon receiver via optical cable (and out to similar age Atlantic Technology speakers).
