So, Comcast thinks its time to rebrand their cable service... XFinity.

It is harder than many think to change a company name. When a company does change names, everyone's a critic. I resist the urge to join in the new-name-bashing. But this is just too easy.
Sounds like they will offer lots of adult programing. "You've got your XFinity Package, your XXFinity Package and for the ultimate in adult fun, the XXXFinity Package." Am I the first one to think that the company name sounds like the name of their porn packages? Who was in those meetings? I used to think that people lots smarter than me were in charge of these things. Then along came New Coke. russ |

I see it as an analytic client-centric B2C holistic metric value-added synergy social media branding. It can also be seen as a new customer-facing paradigm that underlies the service-oriented architecture that they want to project going forward.
Bingo! As long as they don't make me change me email from "comcast.net" to "xfinity.net", it cool by me. Wasn't Nissan once known as Datsun? |

They do that because "studies" have shown that intriguing letters (such as "x" and "z") have shown to increase individual preferences for a given brand. It's marketing strategies, they've gone a bit far, but they've been "proven" to work.
I hadn't thought about it before, but now that you mention it....it does sound like that Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements....even if it leads nowhere - Adele |
