I need a last minute gift in the form of a Nintendo Wii Console. (not the bundle!!) I have tried hours of online and phone requests with no luck. Any suggestions? I don't need the bundle, but the entry line $249 basic! This request makes me understand why some animals eat their young! 'nuff said!! Any ideas? My comment is: holy sh!t!!!!!!!

I think you missed your best opportunity this Sunday. The big stores don't advertise in the newspaper unless they have them, usually 20 or more. They all had ads Sunday. It requires early morning line standing. I was told at Target to get in line at 6a.m. this Sunday for a 8a.m. opening but I didn't need to. You can try Game Stop in Market Plaza but you must be #1,2 or 3. They only get groups of 3 and not everyday. Get there by 8:15 a.m.,the store opens at 9 but sometimes they let you in earlier. They can look on the docket to see if any are coming but the docket is not always accurate. Once the docket showed 3 and none came in. Friday the docket showed 6 and only 3 came in. I was #2 Smile. They are very nice there but the number of units is low. I would try today to see if the 3 from Friday come in. Good Luck!

I have an extra one. BNIB as they say on ebay. I will email you with my number.
If you don't get the email, post again here and we can figure it out.

Thanks so much What’s Next. It never ceases to amaze me the power of our message board! I had almost given up and posted in desperation. Good things do come to those who wait, even if waiting isn't by choice.

Merry Christmas to all!

Do a search for "wii tracking" on google. A link will come up for the backdoor site for Target that will tell you exactly how many are in stock and where. This is how I found ours and extra controllers. I checked the site often, saw that 6 were in stock at the Target by Yorktown, drove over there and got the 2nd to last one. It took one day to find the console. At the time, the controllers were harder to find, but found 3 in Oswego along with the nunchucks and was good to go.

The Tiger woods golf game kills!

Bought one on ebay for $375. . . which seemed reasonable given what they are going for.

I can't believe you paid that, Clam. Did you get more than the game and one controller? We bought at Circuit City. Went in and they were out but their employee thought to check Circuit City online and found they had 60 - yes, 60! We snatched one up - he put everything in for us and the kids are going to be very suprised....yay!

I didn't pay that. Bought one for a non-ebayer. Go look at completed items. You'll see that it was a bargain.

Originally balked at the prices. Then I thought about what my time was worth, standing in line at these stores. That was 2 months ago. Went to one store in Danada and Wayne's World was standing in line. Waiting for the 4 units that might get there by noon.

It was worth the extra money to get it without the hassle.

The funny thing is, we have two Wii consoles in our house - both bought painlessly, several months apart. The first one we got the day it came out, having put our name at the top of the list the first chance. The 2nd, my older son bought (for his younger brother, if I may say in a moment of maternal pride, because he was taking the original console to college with him and felt it was up to him to replace it) this summer, simply by walking into the nearest Best Buy and buying it.

So we read about those who are having such difficulty buying them, and we feel bad - yet also, we cackle a little in satisfied glee. And now the shoe's on the other foot, too, because said older son is now working as seasonal help at a GameStop in the city, and has to field several hundred anxious calls about the Wii a day. They never know when they're going to get them - they'd thought they'd get a shipment in today but didn't. It's truly a must-have gift (and well-worth it, too; the only videogame system that my husband and I have ever played with any finesse. I kick butt at the bowling.)

I don't know much about these games other than I can beat my ten year old at boxing and he can beat me in bowling but I believe we have an entire new game in a box that has not been returned yet if anyone still needs one.
I will check for a reply here or you can e-mail me if you go to the personal zone section of this board.

I asked my 77 y/o mother to stand in line to get on a list to buy one at the Game Stop on Roos. Doors opened at 10, she dropped the last Clamboy off at school at 9. They said the store would get 11 units. I didn't think she had a chance, but when she got there at 9:15 there were only 3 or 4 people in line. Within 5 minutes after she arrived...the line grew to 20. She met another woman her age and admits that she had a really good time doing it.

Pretty painless for me. And only $249.00.

What day was that because when I was there on Monday they got 3 and said they would not be getting any more. I never checked back because I got one from What'snext by noon. Just curious if they were telling the truth.

FYI, on Friday all GameStops are issuing a limited number of rainchecks for the Wii, guaranteeing that you will get the console by January 25th, although you have to pay the full amount on Friday. So if you think your kid will be satisfied by a piece of paper, at least - as opposed to not getting it at all - that's an option.
