We lost all TV, phone and internet service from about 5:30 PM on Thursday until 9:30 Sunday evening, and we were very unhappy at the lack of information from WOW.

How did Comcast do over the same weekend? Were they out, too?
Is there a more reliable alternative?
Does anyone know if WOW is going to credit our accounts for the outage?
Did anyone find a way to get information on the progress in restoring service?

I know, I am very grateful that at least we didn't lose electricity like so many others did. I'd be very interested in hearing how others fared during that weekend.

I have WOW and was also out until late Sunday night. I was able to live without internet, and the lack of TV was a refreshing break around the house. EXCEPT for the Bears game Saturday night, which had me rummaging the garage for some rabbit ears. Soldier Field was a bit snowy.

I tried to call WOW once and got an automated message (presumably based on the caller ID of my phone line) telling me an outage had already been reported in my area. By late Sunday I was getting frustrated but it was back on a few hours later.

WOW is a bit cheaper than Comcast, so maybe we suffered a little more with a poorer return to service time than other folks. I'll take the money savings if its due to an act of God once every few years.

We have WOW and as soon as the power was back on - mid-Friday - so was the cable and internet. Your lines were probably tied in with some power line or downed tree problems that had to be taken care of first. We had some service breaks but I assumed that was because they were working on other lines in the area.

We had phone - AT&T the entire time. All of our lines are underground.

While a credit would be nice, I don't think it is worth the aggravation to try to get less than $4 reimbursed. They'll probably need it to pay the overtime for their repair crews! Wink

I have comcast for internet only and Friday night I realized that I still had service. I think of all my neighbors, I was the only one up, everyone I know has wow. Connection speeds were awesome as well, probably because nobody was on that didn't have power. I like comcast for internet, I just don't like the price. Wish we could get AT & T DSL, I hear their service is excellent. We have them for VoIP and they are great with that.

Sounds like you were able to catch the entire White Sox/Red Sox series over the weekend. Big Grin

Update: We got our WOW bill this week and there was no credit. I called their customer service line and was told it would be a 30 minute wait to talk with a rep. So I emailed their customer service department, and wonder of wonders, I got back a reply an hour later stating they were going to give me an $18 credit. So I think the policy is, if you ask, they'll give it to you.
