Have an Apple iMac G5. When I got the Mac, I got suckered into buying an Epson all-in-one fax/scanner/copier/printer. The rebates made it practically cost free...but it is huge in size, doesn't print to my liking and, worst of all, uses 6 seperate color ink cartridges...and once one color is gone...you gotta buy all 6...for a mere $80 or so.

So, this thing is history. I had a perfectly nice HP inkjet/deskjet (?) with the Dell...I was able to find the color catridges on ebay for $35 or so.

Anybody using a good quality printer that hasn't broken the bank? It is primarly used as a recreational printer (kids printing out useless stuff regarding Pokemon and Cartoon Network that I typically end up dispatching to the recycling bin), but I'd eventually like to print photos, etc.

Unfortunately all printer ink is very expensive. I would suggest that you go to Office Max and/or Office Depot and check out their generic ink. They usually are much cheaper. However, with the 6 color cartridge you will continue to run out of ink faster. Epson isn't the best printer on the planet so if you decide to replace it, go to Amazon.com as they have awesome deals.

Check out http://www.bizrate.com

You can find almost anything there, the site will give you a choice of about 5 different stores for a specific item. If they don't have a physical presence in IL, no sales tax. Its also usually cheaper than stores around here. Saved about $500 on my TV

I'll post the model # later tonight though.

Our printer model is:

hp deskjet 5550

You can read about it at:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000067R8...electronics&n=507846

We've been happy with it. There may be newer models out now.

The newer model is HP All-in-one 1610. I haven't had it long enough to judge, but it is so much better than the Epson that I just pitched!

HP 5550...holy moly...I think I paid less than that for my first car! I'm going pretty basic because it's mostly the kids that use the printer...printing out 11 copies of the same useless pictures.

By the way, Dew. I feel as though I am stalking you through no fault of my own. There you are getting off the train...there you are getting off the train with your wife...now, tonight, there you both are on that fancy-@ss street of yours being walked by your dog. I am creepily hyper-observant of my surroundings as friends and family know...I'd be every defense attorney's worst nightmare on the stand...so don't blame me.

For some reason I had made the incorrect assumption that your wife was a G. West grad.

Well say hello if the mood strikes you. You do hold a distinct advantage since you know me but I don't know you.

We just got our dog last week, he was orphaned by Katrina in south Miss.He definetley walks us! My wife is from Minnesota and I immigrated from the darkside, a Wheaton North grad.

Well...as I am a little shy...perhaps you could catch me getting off the train. I'll be the one wearing the black shoes.

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!! My Eurex U.S. bag is sitting comfortably in my closet.

Too many of my CBT member pals really, really, REALLY took offense when they saw it. When I explained that it was merely a gift from a Eurex U.S. VP friend of mine...they didn't seem to care.

So I went back to my old one.

I really liked the navy/lime green combo. Sad that it can't be used.

He went to work for the CBT.

A CBT man sack has yet to be offered...and he's a Managing Director. You'd think he had access to all sorts of stuff that I could benefit from.

I have too many bags as it is, I'd take a free one of course.

Did you ever go to any of those parties the Krauts threw? I had many a fine meal and drink off them.

Silly Eurexers...can count the number of Eurex contracts my customers have traded on one hand and part of the other. I'm definitely a debit on their books given the sweet bag I scored from them.

I really need a new printer.
