I am 3 days into owning my first iMac, and it is awesome....Great product and I can't believe it took me this long to purchase one......Although, I get alot of messages about missing plugins when I try to access certain sites. That is my only frustration to date.....
I bought a 500MB external LaCie hard drive and want to partition it into two 250 MB drives.....Anyone have a clue on how to do it? Any help would be appreciated...

Apple's pulldown "Help" files are great. In this case use Disk Utility... in Apple's words, "to learn more about using Disk Utility, open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder of the Applications folder, and choose Help > Disk Utility Help."

I hate going to work and working on my pc.....The difference between the two is a joke....It was so easy to set up and connect to my wireless network at home. There is so much I don't know about the mac, but it is fun to figure it all out..
I hate my work computer now. I called my IT guy at work and asked what it would take to switch everything over at the office. He called me laughing saying that I was the 5th person to call today asking the same thing. He said that using macs for office applications is about 2 years off...I can't wait!

we're an all mac office. in fact, i've only used macs since about '85-'86.
one note you should know: macs can run the standard "office" apps fine. and if you have a new mac, i would assume you can run both platforms, right? our newer G5s can flip between the OS X and PC platforms, making it even easier to create MS Office files for our PC clients.
maybe your IT guy needs to look at the mac and see all it can do. one thing macs can't do is run Outlook for the entire staff/office (or maybe my IT guy is pulling my leg). they can for individual computers, but not networks.

That's his/my issue. His comment was that Entourage, the new Mac program for MS networking, is okay but it has a couple of years until it will be fully functional. And my IT guy is a .mac guy.

So, that mus be the reason for the much brighter glow around your head now. You can pretty much see a floating GE Fan head from about 7 houses away. You look like a genie coming out of a box.
Yes, I got the 24 incher....it is illuminating. But you should be happy, now I won't have to call you to help me fix my broken PC ever couple of months.
Truth be told, I couldn't pass it up...I was standing in the store, looking at the 24 incher with the bright vibrant colors and I was sold. Granted, I had about 3 double rum and cokes before the purchase and a buddy was egging me on...but that's neither here nor there. All that matters is that I had a nice X-Mas and so did my family.
