| Interesting. I received a postcard yesterday (10/21/08) from WOW announcing that my internet speed had been doubled (from 4 Mbs to 8 Mbs) at no additional cost. All I had to do was press the “Reset” button on the back of my modem.
So I did. Ran a speed test, and got 8.442 Mbs. Kewl! --Ted E. |

| I don't miss my DSL or satellite.....Another happy WOW customer..... DirecTV tried to entice me with a year of HD service for free and an HD DVR receiver for free if I signed up for another two years.......They sure didn't offer that to me a week before my contract expired. WOW is the WAY to go.... |

| Just ditched Comcast internet for Wow. My internet connection was dropping every day between 10 AM and 3 PM and Comcast was blaming me. First it was settings on my machine. Yeah right. Then it was my modem. Yeah, don't think so. After 3 trips out here, the last trip their support guy gave me a broken modem, I told them bye bye and called Wow at 2 PM Friday. At 4:50 PM the same day, I had double the speed internet.
About all the DirecTV hate here: I have been a DirecTV user since 1994, never had a problem, never had an issue, only had perfect performance. I do not see where anyone can have an issue with DirecTV unless of a huge storm. But that is god telling you to stop watching TV for a while. |

| I had to clean off the dish last night. The snow buildup was blocking the signal....

| I called WOW this morning to add another DVR. While they had me on the phone the agent said that she would move us into a higher Internet speed. After questioning info about this, I agreed to boosting our speed plus adding another DVR. The result: the monthly price was lowered about $25. I now have download speed between 1602 and 1393 with upload at a steady 1126. Gotta love WOW. However I-Phone is totally another story. I have always been techie, but the learning curve on this babe is a beast! I think it may be that my nails are too long so I may have to think about this seriously! (They aren't all that out of sight, I mean not hooker length or anything!)I will give it about a week and if I still am frustrated, I will trade it in for a Blackberry. More later on my progress. |

| Scotty, I hope you are missing a digit on the upload speed... Do you mean 16002 (smoking fast)?

| Never had a problem with DirecTV customer service, like I said, been a customer since Oct. 1994. I deal with customer service all the time, it is about 50% of my job, and DirecTV has always been one of the best. Who has the best Customer service per the industry?
You should know the answer to the above question by now, because for the 8th year in a row DIRECTV is number one according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index. It was a close call though as DIRECTV's overall score of 68 only beat the overall cable and satellite industry score of 64 by a small margin. Reflecting customer survey results of perceived quality, value, and expectations prior to subscribing, the number one ranking according to the executive VP of Operations at DIRECTV Mike Palkovic is a direct result of "the hard work and dedication of all DIRECTV employees and customer service representatives".
Anyone see the Falcons vs. Chargers game Sunday? Awesome game. Oh wait, you have cable. |

| Can't you mention a better match up than Falcons vs. Chargers to justify your point? |
| | |
GlenEllynite
| If you saw the game like I did, you would know it was a stellar match up. Falcons are for real, and the Chargers are a damn good team with some serious bad luck and timing. Game was awesome. |

| DTM: maybe you have an older dish - call them up and see if you can get a new one. The new ones do not gather snow - or maybe it's the oblong HD ones that don't. All I know is, we used to have to clean ours in our old house, but haven't had a problem since we moved here in 2005 - coincidentally, the time when we also got HD.
And to all of you haters: I ((heart)) my DirecTV - client since 2001; never an issue. |

| got my dish in '03. Mine is on the roof and i am a ranch between two 2-story homes...maybe I don't get enough wind on the dish. for HD how many cables run from the dish to the inside of the house?
It's the spending, Stupid! |

GlenEllynite

| I think there are two separate cables, but they bundle them so there is only one hole in your house. |

| I have 2 separate cables. I had heard HD had 4 cables coming from the dish into the house...but I may be mistaken...

| DTM, you are mistaken....it only requires one coax unless you have DVR, then it requires two. |
