Just got back from Costco to look at the Vizio. Consumer Reports has good things to say about them. I like COstco's 90 day return as well as the 2nd year warranty. Of course, my husband likes the 63". I'm starting to think that we're not splitting hairs with this decision. Maybe we're just happy to see the screen that we don't appreciate the picture difference. One thing I did notice was being able to get a good picture from different angles will be important. There was a Mitsubushi 63" LCD that had a good picture. My feeling is that the bedroom tv is also ready to go. If we're happy with the decision we can put whatever we get in there and start over with the family room. Appreciate the help. I think I'll keep looking through the week end.

It's Masters week. You'd be a fool not to buy it now and immediately upgrade to an HD signal.

I can live with fool. I've been called a lot worse. I just don't want to rush and buy something I will regret later. All of a sudden hubby thinks he may be able to fix the tv for a few hundred bucks. Jokes on him because I already bought the new furniture. Arriving tomorrow. He'll notice when the old stuff is sitting in the foyer

Consumer Reports recommended the Ford Windstar when it first came out. Not that I bought one...but I have never trusted them after watching my neighbor act on their advice on a couple of things...including the Windstar. Two years after its introduction and after CR's recommendation...it was listed as a used car to avoid...by Consumer Reports. I love that story.

Always quick to the defense of American cars, I will say that my 2001 Windstar has 102,000 miles on it and only two issues. The first was a skipping, failing CD player. I took it apart with the intent of replacing it, and discovered that my little ones decided that loose change in the ashtray fit perfectly into the CD opening. I shook them free, replaced the radio and voila! back to normal.

The second issue is failing automatic door locks. The driver side and one of the sliding doors is now hit or miss when I use the fob or the keypad. I'll be replacing those motors soon.

Other than that, we're A-OK.

I truly think you either get a lemon or you don't - foreign or domestic. I've been blessed so far with three good American purchases. AND, repair parts are significantly cheaper and easier to find with American cars. That shouldn't be discounted.

How muchwill I notice I differencein picture quality if the contrast ratio is
2000:1/ 10,000 vs 3000:1/ 15,000? I know I'm missing something there. Right now now I'm between the 50" samsung plasma and the 50" sharp aquos and the 55" sony sxrd xbr.
