Need to replace our older smaller car with something a bit newer.

Ideal used car would be a 2002-2003 Accord LX or EX 4-door, <50K miles, auto transmission.

I know that's a longshot, but what the heck - thought I'd ask... Big Grin

I know you don't really think this will be a difficult car to find.....do you, '58?

I'd be willing to think about selling my '71 2002 to you. Runs like a bat outta hell. Would make a good addition to your driveway. Wife wants me to sell it which means it probably isn't going anywhere. She gets a new car and suddenly I need to get rid of mine. What's that all about?

I found 12 2002 EX, 30 2003 EX, 6 2002 LX, and 9 2003 EX on ebay. There were also half a zillion on craigslist a/o this afternoon. What color do you prefer?

Yes, mom, I do. No trust fund put me in the coveted Lake Ellyn area...unlike Fish, I had to work for it. BTW, did I ever mention that I have a mother with the exact same name?

That was perfect.
Someone should save it for the wayback machine.

Maybe you would get one if you laid off the bottle a bit. However, I would like a trust fund as well.

The 2002 series (Bimmers) Rox! Now those were fun cars alright. But those don't do anything for her. I've had my couple of 3-series in the 80's and 90's, but that's not where we are with cars anymore. Sad but true. Now it's just about reliable transportation and economical gas mileage.

They're EZ to locate, yes, but we're not doing an eBay for a car. Roll Eyes

Been at some dealers - some good - some bad - some strange. Still sifting through a lot of listings. Thought I'd toss the question out to the GE masses here anyway. You never know.

Couldn't tell ya. Being a guy - I'm not ever going to figure women out. I'll tell you this though... with us, it worked the opposite way. A couple weeks ago, I arranged a former co-worker to come by and tow away the old(er) store van, an '87 Astro. Free. And good riddence. Just that action alone forced her car to instantly go bad and she has to replace it now.

So one derilect vehicle goes, and her older car becomes our new derilect vehicle now occupying the same spot in the back yard.

Have you considered new?

I was helping someone shop for a car two weeks ago and found at Toyota in Naperville a bunch of Corollas new for around 12k.

I'd look for a 2 or 3 y/o Accord before I'd get a Corolla. To each his own. My mommy has a 2004 Corolla...nice enough car, but she 76 and needs nothing else. Thing is like driving a soap box derby car.

2 or 3 year old Accords don't cost a whole lot less than new ones... for example (and I know dealer pricing is high, but still) I found 2 2004 Accord LX 4-doors at Honda of Lisle, one listed for $16,995 and the other $18,065. I paid almost exactly the second price for a new LX 4-door last year. You'll need to go older than 2-3 years to pay significantly less, I think...

I'm all for new unless there is a BIG discount. The last two used cars I got I bought at a significant discount to sticker...one being 12 months old at the time and it was priced 30%+ off of sticker, CPO w/ 100K/6 year warranty added. Can't do much better than that.

I just bought a car over the weekend that, while 3 years old, has only 25K miles and is, for all intents and purposes, brand new...that is until Parker gets behind the wheel. Inexplicably, I paid trade-in value for it on ebay.

I agree...if a new Accord will only set you back $3k more, buy it. But I think we're comparing EXs vs. LXs here. My guess is an EX can be had, 3 years old, for a bigger savings...even though they hold their value like no other car.
