Looking for a relatively inexpensive open car trailer. It'll be used to trailer a Model T (only about 1,000 pounds). Would like it to have brakes, too. If you know of anyone selling something similar, please let me know. New ones that are bigger than I need are under $3K so I'm looking at spending quite a bit less than that.

Arten bought one outside of Wausau for $1500 a few years ago to haul the off-road Jeep. 16' w/brakes, storage for the ramps, Bearing Buddies, aluminum fenders, tongue jack. The cheapest he could find down there for the same trailer was $1800. Might be worth the trip. He said the guy in Villa Park (Advantage) was way high.
You could also look for a landscapers trailer. You probably only need a 14'. If you want to talk to Arten, send us an email(it's in my profile) and I'll give you our phone number. Or you can get our number from Clamato. HTH |

There are several nice ones for sale at Blain's Farm & Fleet, holds 1,650 payload but it staes 1,000 lb capacity so I don't know which is which. Maybe get the next size up. It's 52" x 88" $699.00 but they have others. Saw the ad today and it caught my eye and thought of you. Closest is Sycamore. farm & fleet Last page ad 'Spring into summer.' and last page "summer sale". Craig's list? |

What are you towing with?
We have a friend who tows his Jeep all over the country with his RV. He has a 14' but kicks himself for not going to a 16' or longer because he has trouble seeing it when backing. Also, the longer trailer will have a longer tongue, which makes backing it and not running your rear bumper into the corner of the trailer much easier. |

That's just it, Tony, the tow vehicle is a Ford Ranger with the towing package. Which is why we have to go with the lightest trailer possible (A Model T is only 850-1200 pounds.

What motor? I know my '05 with the 4.0L and tow package would yank 5500lbs... I bought it with the highest tow capacity with the intention of dragging the Jeep around behind me.

I think it was a 4L. Although it may be getting pulled by my 3.8L Ford Windstar....
Anyway, we wound up getting one that looks almost identical the picture Mrs. A posted. Used, on Craigslist. |
