Whats up with her? She's invited to speak at the Gridiron Club but why? I guess you can say she's a politician but she's not an elected official and I thought she said she quit politics to pursue other interests. (like her recent book). Yes, facetious maybe but I that's what she said- too hard on her family.

What do people see in her?

I see mediocre education, small town mayor experience which didn't seem to go well, and certainly not the brightest bulb in the pack. Hot?- yes for a few more years.

Cripes, this kind of public thinking makes me want to leave and start a commune in the U.P. of MI. Any takers? Big Grin

There is a good example of what I mean- Gus's response saying Palin is more qualified than O'bama? Where do people get this from?

Just in education- O'bama's degrees from Columbia, Harvard, and a U of Chicago lecturer somehow is the equivalent of attending 4 mediocre colleges to finally get a BS in communications?

I mean Sarah obviously is charismatic but so is Flo, the women who sells the insurance in the TV ad for progressive. Can't stop watching her.

She did get into a lot of trouble in those years she spent in Joono...or however you spell it. So maybe she does have a little Washington inside of her.

Suffice it to say...neither Obama nor Palin are the best their party has to offer. Can we at least agree on that?

I see a profusion of words of little or obscure content by a person of restricted interests lacking brains or polish.
Don't mistake S P's torrent of verbiage for capital truths. I am not one taken with her provincial folksiness. She is dangerous. She is a quitter when things don't go her way and her "family" has more dysfunction than "values. Add a voice that is like nails on a blackboard and you can see where I am going with this...I would vote for Tina Faye before SP.

Did you watch Hannity's last interview with Palin? He spoon feed her the answers to his own questions.

Gus: street smarts? That would be Obama's experience in Illinois politics which doesn't necessarily mean you have to become a crook (hey- you're going to Washington). Street smarts learned in Bum F Alaska (or any other small town in the US) doesn't seem like much of anything to me.

I'm not saying I'm enthralled with O and I consider myself an independent, but what the heck? Palin? She could do well on the home shopping network at best. JMO

As a moderate Republican (e.g. a not-so-wealthy Republican)...I can assure you, Mr. Gus (if that is really your name) that I am truly embarrassed by the likes of Sarah Palin and her social climbing, white trash followers. Why a fine gent like Mr. McCain saw fit to launch this female moron into the national spotlight is beyond me. I desperately want to think that his handlers had everything to do with this as he seems so much smarter than I am (you may recall that I initially proclaimed this the greatest move in political history), but I am not certain. I will go to my grave wondering how the Elephant Party got so derailed last year. I beg of you, don't be blinded by her feminine wiles as she is truly part of the problem with the Republican party...not the solution. She will NEVER get the party's nomination....ever. I am willing to bet my less-than-substantial-and-dwindling-by-the-day fortune on that.

FYAYV!!! And while we're at it, God Bless Richard Nixon. Mental illness aside...he truly was a fine president.

Quote from Gus
"BTW, don't forget today is the anniversary of the foreign attack on US soil, Pearl Harbor, second only to 911 in terms of lives lost."

Very good point Gus. I did notice there was no thread about this date. Also no thread on Veterans day. Also no posts in remebrance of September 11 for this year.
Very good point.

She couldn't even answer such a simple question. That's Gus' idea of street smarts.

I think she will be the GOP nominee for prez if she wants it. Who else have they got? The party of no ideas needs a president with no brains. Here's the GOP philosophy:
1. Cut taxes on the rich.
2. Cut taxes on the rich.
3. Cut taxes on the rich.

My dad was a veteran of Pearl Harbor. He benefitted immensely from the G.I. Bill which was opposed by the GOP for what Gus would call "socialism". He was a republican. I guess hypocrisy is a prime trait of conservatives.

Nixon should be burning in Hell for his "southern strategy". He was the epitome of a vile politician.

sarah palin is where she is because of one word: HOT.
that is the ONLY reason she was plucked from obscurity.
and it embarrases EVERY woman that "HOT" got to run for an office that is a heartbeat away from the presidency.
what a lousy messages for our daughters....

And an in-your-face sexuality that she has instilled in her daughters. A woman in her 40s that is having unplanned pregnancies at the height of her 'power' is very titillating for the Rush Limbaugh set.
