The Assessors in all nine townships of DuPage have their "first cut" of assessment numbers in to Craig Dovel, Supervisor of Assessments, DuPage County, Ill-Annoy.
Here is the Initial 2010 Level of Assessment as determined by all nine township assessor offices. Note that all other columns in this table are *null*. Came across this link, near the bottom of the page I just linked to above. Initial 2010 Level of Assessment - Potential Equalization Factors by Craig Dovel Read this VERY carefully as it is the Supervisor giving his best guess at what his "County Equalizers" will be, by township for the entire 2010 Assessments of DuPage County. It sounds like we will be seeing negative equalization factors. Or, equalizing DOWN to 33.33% Pay especially close attention to: a) your township b) the column headed Potential 2010 Factor If I am reading this correctly, ALL of Dupage County will see, at a MINIMUM, a 9% drop in EAVs for 2010, with Milton leading the way at a 9.62% drop. "The values are dropping, the values are dropping! One if by land, two if by sea!" |

Valuations up, down; doesn't matter, does it? They'll just divide the cost of running the County (which will be more in the future than in the past) by the number of properties that are taxed. It always goes up. I'd be stunned if the actual dollars of taxes I pay on my properties is lower.

I didn't mean to imply that the looming PLUNGE in EAVs would lower taxes. Schools have a statutory maxium Limiting Rate, most towns/villages around here have Home Rule and the rest of them will likely go up to their heart's content, I guess.
All I am trying to do is sound the alarm. Most people I know are blissfully unaware of what lies ahead and when they learn? They're not going to be real happy. |
