I don't blame Paddock Publications for this. In fact, I wish them well. I know I will not be paying them a dime.

I wonder if they'd let me have it for free like their print edition. I canceled it about a year ago and it mysteriously resumed showing up on my drive about 6 weeks ago. I've tried to stop it, but they seemed determined to deliver a paper to my house.

The Herald charging for online access?! Really? Good luck with that.

Evidently, home delivery [paper] subscribers will get the online access for a mere buck a month. Why anything?

The Daily Herald web site went "premium" today.

Although I understand the business need to reclaim some of their investment, I can't see the end result panning out as they probably hope it will. Like, it won't even break even.

Here is a prime example of why this paper will not make it to 2014

"Ozog asked Glenbard West Assistant Principal for Athletics Linda Oberg if coaches have been enticed by other schools because there’s no lights."

An 8th grader would understand that this is a glaring mistake . . . yet a reporter and his editor did not.

Also, the very short amount of time between the announcement of a fee-based site and the actual implementation of the fee, to me, has a whiff of desperation.

It was exactly one-week: 8/30 announcement to a 9/7 charge. Perhaps 2014 might be a generous longevity estimate.
