It's nice to be able to watch what will probably be one of the best ever at his craft in action. This year reminds me of the Bears teams of the late 70's-early 80's. Poor teams, but you could always enjoy Walter Payton-the best all around back ever. Hester is not WP, but like Walter, I always stop what I'm doing when he touches the ball.

Got to go to the game with my son. My first Bears game ever and what a great experience! (I didn't live in the Chicago area until adulthood and was still living out of state during the '85 Bears season.) Unfortunately, we had to leave the game a little early to try and catch the 6:40 train (which we missed because our bus driver waited until the bus was crazy-packed before leaving). Nonetheless, we were still next to the field when the touchdown happened making it a 7 point game. On the bus ride, a woman was on the phone with her daughter who was still at the game. We got the play-by-play and happy announcement that the game was tied with 30ish seconds left. The Broncos fan behind us who had just previously called a friend claiming,"Broncos won!" looked a tad crestfallen. Then, at the train station, we watched the OT kick and the large group congregated outside the bar all celebrated loudly. We all had missed our trains by minutes but were so happy, we decided it really didn't matter that much. What fun! Mr. Hester was the brightest part of the game and my son took off his coat to reveal is Hester jersey before each kickoff return. Needless-to-say, he has now established a new ritual which will be repeated for every Bears game. Bonus for my son: A loose tooth came out while snacking at the train station so he is a few bucks richer this morning. Great day.
