Had a brilliant idea for our 80 year old parents.

Went to Wal-Mart and bought a Kodak digital picture frame and a 1G SD card(card holds over 1000 pics). Total cost about $80.

I'm now in the process of loading the card with pictures stored on my computer. I have pictures of our parents when they were young, of their kids and grandkids, of homes we've all lived in and places we've traveled. The frame also allows other cards to be inserted from our parents digital cameras(they never quite figured out how to load them into their computer). So now they'll be able to view the pictures they take.

Anyone else have any great gift ideas?

No relation to my previous post. But since my iPod's click wheel has died, I think the iPod Touch is looking pretty good right now. I hope Santa reads this.

For the charitably minded...

A loan to www.kiva.org. This is a great gift for anyone, but a particularly good one for someone who is a business owner/self-employed. Kind of fun to follow the loan too.

For the people who "have everything" and would be honored with a charitable contribution on their behalf, consider a donation to a charity that has meaning to you or the person that you are honoring with such a gift. I'll toss out two suggestions: www.ymenchicago.com or www.amagara.org. Both organizations have ties to Glen Ellyn.

Also like the idea of the picture frame. Thinking of that for my parents who are about to celebrate their 50th as well.

Nice idea for a thread...

We're planning to do the digital picture frame for both of our sets of parents too! Brilliant minds, we are! Smile

We may do some donations in the name of family members via Heifer International. Great organization! Hiefer Project

Bought my husband Abercrombie sleeping pants. He wanted them as they are the softest things in the world.

We like to give a six pack of interesting bottled beers to all the brothers and their significant others. Liquor/spirits/beer = always appreciated. Smile

THe oldest son just recently got the iPhone. That thing is insanely cool. Eight gigabyte storage and it's only $20/month for the unlimited media package.

Mrs. Arten,
That is a beautiful car....other than the orange color. (I'm sure SOMEONE on this BB likes orange, but not me).

Clam,
My husband does need a new car. The question is, do you really think he would want me to pick it for him?

That is a 1972 BMW 2002 tii. For a collector, Inka orange is the most sought after color. I own what has to be the least desirable color they made back then.

By him a car, Amy. Hold on to the receipt in case he doesn't like it so you can take it back.

I wouldn't pick a car for your husband, unless he has very specically stated what he wants-color, options, etc.
