Here is what worries about all of this. Quinn wants to increase the tax rate by one percent from three to four percent. But he is saying this will go to education.
Nothing about the long term deficit, nothing about the pension shortfalls. He also wants to take Federal money for High Speed rail which is one of the biggest waste of money out there. And while the Feds will pick up a good deal of the money we in Illinois will be saddled picking up a nice portion of this.
Once again we will give Illinois politicians more money and they will blow it.
I guess the pundits feel that Cohen stayed in the race because he hated Quinn so much and wanted to make him lose, but he actually ended up being a protest vote for republicans and independents that were none to happy with Brady's brand of snake oil thereby allowing Quinn to win.
Quinn is just a figurehead. Think of him as a very large puppet. His job is to keep the Chair warm for Lisa.
The real power in the State lies with Madigan and Cullerton. If they decide to raise taxes or send us deeper into debt or more than likely both. They will.
Well you see that is the beauty of Illinois it doesn't matter. We have 108 state reps and only one really matters. This is why Pihos keeps getting re-elected we could send a box of rocks down to spring patch and it would do as much good. Not to mention a damn sight cheaper.
Same thing goes for our State Senator, whats his name. You'll see him again in two years. Just like you got an occasional glimpse of Ms. Pihos. Once every two to four years they show themselves. Like Groundhogs only Groundhogs at least serve some purpose. Which is more than I can say for our state legislators. Unless you count sending their friends kids to college on our dime, Double dipping their pensions and basically protecting their do nothing jobs as serving a purpose.

And that's a mandate?
God help us...the next 4 years are going to be a disaster.
How many of you guys voted to nominate this real estate agent anyway? It's your own fault. Is it news to you that Cook County votes 70% Democratic? It's been that way for a long time. Oh wait. Maybe we can recall him. That's going to move things along.
