Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Starts Friday
"During the ten-day sales tax holiday, the 5% portion of sales taxes collected at retail registers will be waived. Sales taxes collected on behalf of local governments will continue to be collected."

Wow think of all the money we're going to save .

If it costs under 5.00 the state will not tax it.

you know, there really are an awful lot of people, yes, even in DuPage County, who will be happy about their savings. But, must be nice to have enough disposable income not to worry.... Smile

Indiana tax fact: There is no sales tax on foodstuffs bought in grocery stores. None. Zero. Zilch.

Illinois has a low rate - 2% I think - but 0% is better.

I thought the $0.00 "tax" on my register receipt was a mistake the first time I saw it.

Most other states that have tax holidays, honor it on clothing, computers, etc... not just notebooks and calculators. Oh well... that's IL for ya.

Oregon doesn't even have sales tax on cars!
