Here's to the boys and girls at Big Blue for rising from the ashes to reclaim the #1 spot! I must admit, as a gear head myself, their new designs sure are catching my eye a lot more these days. I really like just about everything they're producing these days. Finally let the Mazda designers have a say, Volvo legendary frame makers chime in, and their Cosworth european counterparts balance the cars. If their new Focus is anything like our former 2007 Mazda 3GT, then I'm willing to bet it's a winner!

Congrats to the red, white, and Blue for fighting your way back to the top, especially without the government cheese handouts!

This is US Sales only, but I am glad to see Ford claim #1. They've been the best at addressing their labor legacy costs. We'll see if it is enough, long-term. And they did it without taking the government bailout. Those two items ought to be enough for folks to at least give them a look.

I've now owned 4 cars, all American, and I just don't see the quality complaints most folks reflexively throw at them. And when I do need to fix them, the parts are much cheaper.

Pontiac Sunfire - 230K before it was totaled
Ford Ranger - 120K before it was sold
Olds Alero - Still kicking, with no issues, at 90K
Ford Windstar - 145K, 9 years old and counting
