I'm going to wait for one of us to rash the ones on the new car...and it will happen if history is any indication...before getting new wheels. I haven't spend a lot of time with it yet, but all indications are that it is 2/3 the car the BMW was. Of...it costs 2/3 the price of a new BMW, so maybe that's the trade-off.

I love driving BMW's, but can't bring myself to pay the premium.

Some new performance tires might help handling. I was walking by yesterday and thought the car looked nice.

Oh, it looks nice. Just have to get used to driving a car that feels like you're sitting in your living room.

Sure miss having a manual trans. I've owned a couple of 3-series, and really loved the 325-ES back when I could justify it. Come to think of it, I never could justify it, but sure was fun to drive. Now, with not much reason behind it, a Mini Cooper S is calling me. Just looks fun and easy on gas.

Lemme know if you want to drive ours.

You're welcome to take mine for a spin too. Clam, didn't you go from an S to not an S? Mine isn't an S. Didn't want the super-stiff suspension. But you really are welcome to take it out - top down (on the car of course).

Test drove an '08 Mini S at Bill Jacobs yesterday. What a cool little car! Wheeeeeeee!

When asked about used S's they looked at me like I was crazy. "We almost never see them... and there's no point. They hold their value all too well. Most go to friends, relatives.. Just order up a custom car—seriously."

Not one to take that as fact (the eternal skeptic that I am, as those of you who know me can attest to), I just clicked up Carmax. There are 35 used Mini's total in the entire country, and only a handfull of 3-yr. old or newer cars. And their "no haggle" prices? Oh my word! At or higher than new. Really. Even if those prices are over-jacked, still... good grief!

Swore I'd never buy another car new. Now am re-thinking that. And yes, Clam, the suspension is pretty tight. I'm wondering how it might feel on a 1000 mile road trip.

The 15 yr.-old Safari might be gathering more dust and rust soon. And I didn't toss the old lawn mower just yet. Only one new thing with an internal-combustion engine allowed per year.

Check Cars.com, I found 61 within 30 miles.
