Sounded like an all around good guy.

I was telling one of my kids about this story, since he knows Coach Downie, the coach and teacher quoted in the story. When I told him how Robert Miller died, he then told me that there have been no surviving recipients of this highest military award in either the Afghanistan or Iraq wars. He attributed this to the extreme valor and bravery in the face of the enemy that the recipient demonstrates to earn the award.
