Saturday, August 18, 2007 - the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company will be celebrating their 100th Anniversary with a Fire Muster & Celebration at Fire Station # 1 in downtown Glen Ellyn.

Opening ceremonies will be at 9 am with Village President Vicky Hase reading a proclamation from the Village Board.

A very special fire truck parade will start at 10 am at the corner of Anthony & Main St. It will go south on Main to Crescent Blvd, east on Crescent to Forest, north on Forest to Pennsylvania Avenue and west on Pennsylvania back to Fire Station # 1.

A display of antique & newer fire trucks, various emergency vehicles and fire related equipment will then be on display in the adjoining parking lot.

Games will be available for kids of all ages, such as a bucket brigade & hose rolling. Fire service related demonstrations for kids and adults will be held thru out the morning and afternoon.

The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company will be hosting an open house all day and everyone is invited to meet the volunteer firefighters and see displays of memorabilia & old photos.

Parents are encouraged to bring cameras, as there will be many opportunities for great pictures of their kids with the fire fighters & fire trucks. 100th Anniversary memorabilia will be available for purchase.

The event will be open till 4pm and everyone is welcome to join in the celebration!
