Dear Members and Friends:
The Emmy nominated film “Blue Vinyl” puts a human face on the dangers posed by vinyl siding. Vinyl, also known as “PVC” or “Polyvinyl chloride,” is one of the most widely used synthetic materials due to its durability and versatility. Unfortunately, PVC is known to cause harm to human health and the environment throughout its lifecycle, and its production is on the rise, despite the fact that safer, feasible alternatives currently exist for almost all vinyl products. On October 15th, the Citizens for Glen Ellyn Preservation and the Glen Ellyn Public Library will co-sponsor a public viewing of this film. A discussion concerning the environmental issues posed by PVC, plus the adverse impact of vinyl siding on historic preservation, will follow. Date: Wednesday, October 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 Place: Glen Ellyn Public Library, 400 Duane Street, Glen Ellyn. Meeting Room A&B Refreshments will be served. Presented by the Citizens for Glen Ellyn Preservation Citizens for Glen Ellyn Preservation is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization of citizens who want to safeguard the distinctive character, history and architectural integrity of the Glen Ellyn community through historic preservation, planning and sensible growth.
