Please join a lively, interesting, and motivated group of concerned residents as we return downtown Glen Ellyn to the expected state of "Green & Clean." This will take place on Sunday, May 18th from 7am to approximately 9am.

Meet in front of Starbuck's and bring work gloves and a broom and/or scraper. Trash bags being provided. Also, Starbuck's coffee and small breakfast items will be available for a limited number of workers. All drink and food are being donated by local merchants. Let's show our merchants we care and let our Village Government know that it's time we begin an assertive and coordinated effort to return the Central Business District to it's former glory. Let's get it Green and Clean!

A letter to the Village of Glen Ellyn Manager will be available for all interested parties to sign.

I would really like to get a head count of who will be there so I know how much coffee to request....If you are on this BB and plan to attend, please reply on this thread. Also, if you know other people that will come, just let me know the number. I hope we can get a decent sized crew because we could really get a lot done if we do!

I have invited Pack 150 of the Cub Scouts. I will give you a head count by Wednesday. Amy, did you ask Girl Scout Troop 30? My Girl Scout has not heard anything about it yet.

Mills, I left a message with the Troop leader. My Girl Scout has talked with a few of the girls about it but hopefully we will make a coordinated effort in communicating to everyone tomorrow evening....once I hear what the troop leader thinks.

Ted, what did you edit???

Yigo, glad you can make it and your handmade cards were a hit! Smile

Nothing. I closed the thread (as I usually do with events announcements) but then saw that you asked for replies, so I unlocked it. The system saw that as an "edit." Sorry! --TedE

I beg to differ, my response was deleted.

Amy-I will be there, I just don't need coffee.

Amy, I am glad that they were a hit. I made a comment to my family yesterday while we were eating breakfast at the Glen Oak, as to how many Mom's had received their cards and what the response was. I will be working on Father's Day and Gradutaion cards in the next few days.

Hey Amy- Are you getting enough help for the 18th? I was wondering if "The Taste" was going to create a real nightmare of a clean up only to be trashed again at noon. I do plan on helping if it is still on.

The response has not been overwhelming but I think we have a decent number. I hope you can join us. We'll accomplish whatever we can in the time we have set aside. That's what we did last time and a relatively small crew accomplished a fair bit in a fairly short time. I hope the village will have extra trash pick-up this weekend - I imagine they do since we don't usually see trash rolling down the street....at least not more than normal. Smile

At the very least, we'll have some socializing and coffee and get some cleaning done.

While you are all cleaning up Saturday morning, why not pass out Save Ackerman Woods post cards to all that you see?

Sunday morning. Sure, I'll pass them out. Not sure how many people we will see that early but as the morning wears on, we might see more people....or you could join us and help hand them out! Big Grin

Do you mean "save Ackerman Woods and sign up for AW clean up day" cards? Wink

I will be there. Any idea where one can buy one of them trash pokers. Bending over to do it really blows.

I am planning on attending.

I am fairly certain that given a cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world.

BB, think of all the bending as exercise! Big Grin

Glad to see some of our "regulars" will be there. I think we'll have a decent turnout and some nice snacks to get us geared up: Thanks to Flour Barrel Bakery, Einstein's and Starbuck's, we'll have a few tasty tidbits to eat and drink.

Amy,

Looks like I will be there with 2-3 tops. I guess 7 - 11 year old boys don't get up early on Sunday unless they are sleeping in a tent.
