Where: Curly's Pub (Downtown Glen Ellyn across from the Fire Station)

When: 8 PM TONIGHT

For: Anyone and everyone is invited to Curly's tonight to say a big "Thank You" to all involved, not involved or for those just plain happy that the woods are saved (for now) at Ackerman Woods.

Come have a winky in celebration of halting the current project, put faces to names of the people that volunteered, and have a good time on a wonderful summer evening in Glen Ellyn.

Smile

When will we hear what Amy has to say about this development?

BE:

Make sure you take this time to have those militant tree-hugging pals of yours make solid plans to go into AW and clean them out ASAP. If you can round up just 5-7% of those that signed the petition, you'll be done in no time. Or next to no time.

Report back after you hear what they have to say, por favor.

I noticed that she and her alter-ego were in the News this week. Walt's letter was soooo long that I gave up on it. Just like I have given up on Mody Dick ever since I was i high school. Try as I might....just can't get through it.

Was Mody Dick written by Fred Melville?

I suspect that was a typo.
Clam was actually reading Moody Dick - a freebie with his latest shipment of little blue pills.

Maybe that's been the problem all these years.....does Moby Dick begin in a Parisian brothel? Always starts out with promise, but inevitably runs out of steam. Mody Dick may be a different book.

There are already plans this fall to clean it up after the growing season with at least 7 people I know of that will be going out there, but I am not really "in the know" here on the plans. I am sure it will be discussed tonight though.

"militant tree-hugging pals" - Those peeps actually got something done, unlike the Vociferous little minority that couldn't stop TBS from winning the bid to ....

I have blamed you for Trustee Norton's unfortunate comments ever since they were uttered. If I am not mistaken, he was looking directly at you when he spoke.

Anyway...I am just pulling your leg about your militant tree-hugging pals. But I will not be pulling any mustard weed or garlic vine or whatever that **** was that was eating the lawnmower in there. As a big fan of soccer, I am very upset that this town will not be getting two more fields. We need soccer fields, for crying out loud. I think you know this, the Creech's know this...we all know this.

REALLY? I did not notice that. I was too busy laughing while others were shouting.

I love Soccer. My surgically repaired right knee from a blown out ACL and MCL? Not so much.

back to the thread topic:

If you do attend, don't forget to sign that thing that is going to be there to sign.

Looking forward to seeing all the volunteers tonight!

So....is this get together for volunteers or petition signers? Or both? I'd feel bad showing up when all I did was sign an electronic petition. I mean....I just really like signing petitions. I've mentioned this in the past.

In fact, had Vicky noticed my name on that thing, she'd have run to Home Depot with special temporary assistant not-permanent hopefully-not-allowed-to-make-any-decisions village manager Curt and bought a couple of Stihl MS 192 T C-Es and started slicing and dicing till those things came down. But you know what? The joke would have been on them. Because I like soccer. I like it a lot. And a soccer field can double as a lacrosse field. And I like lacrosse, too. So I would have had the last laugh, wouldn't I?

I can't. I just can't any longer. I will leave that to you.

Too tired to fight.

Tell him I said hello. Perhaps he'll be at Curley's tonight.

It is for anyone that wants a winky after a rough week of work, and loves trees in general. In paper form, furniture form, or standing tall next in a field somewhere.

Don't you have to chop down a tree to make paper? Just asking...have one for me tonight.

Blue Echoes, now that the celebrations and high-fiving (W00T!) and parties are over...when are Mr. and Mrs. C going to spearhead the clean up campaign at Ackerman Woods? Eek

Hell, I may even participate. That's how much I think that ****hole needs attention.

Also, can you get these people to start some sort of rally to burn down and haul away that eyesore at Five Corners? What? No...not Walgreen's, the old gas station. How the hell hasn't that property gone through some sort of seizure and condemnation process? Well, at least we got a fountain.

Kind of like the foundation on Lenox across from the lake?

The village and the owner should come to an agreement and utilize trompe l’oeil to cover up that ongoing problem. Trompe l’oeil could fix a lot of problems in this town.
