District 89 projects deficit spending for second year

"In the past decade, the district has spent into the negative four times and it is projected that by 2015 the reserve fund will be completely depleted."

"Gaspar said this year a community finance team will look into what the district may need to do in order to continue offering the same programs. She admits this may mean seeking a tax rate increase, but it is all a matter of what the community will support."

I'll be curious to hear what their solutions besides tax increases turn out to be.

Doesn't D89 have one of the highest paid Superintendents in the state. Think he pulls down over 300K. For such a small district thats pretty good.

Maybe D41 and D89 should start looking into a merger.

I thought that comes up a lot - but why in the world would District 89 be at all interested in District 41? How would it profit us poor folks south of Roosevelt?
