For better and worse, the anonymity provides many open and honest opinions that would not otherwise be made public. Of course, there is a negative to it and it's unfortunate that you and others felt wronged by it and are subjected to it.

You can go through all 3856 posts of mine. You will find that I've never openly slandered or defamed one person on here....other than Jombl, Fish, the Artens and that jag, Clamato.

Well, it started with an ad somewhere - from the ad he surmised a possible relationship between the advertiser and the organization beyond the purely commercial.

It was the use of the word, 'supposedly', in communicating the inferred relationship between the individual and the organization publishing the circular that provoked.

I have no doubt that he now wishes he had checked the parish rolls rather than publicly displayed his ignorance of advertisers in a handout.

Parish Rolls? Are those the things that were discovered in the 1950s in some cave in the West Bank?

Who can read those things anyways?

Perhaps then he shouldn't have been so quick to add a qualifying word to his guess, all he would have needed to do is drive over, wake somebody and ask,

"I was writing this sentence, and I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that if this guy takes an ad out here he might even be a member, I mean supposedly most people that do put ads in this are members, right?"

See, then he would have known the answer and not had to use a qualifier to indicate his uncertainty.

LOL you overly-sensitive Sig!!

I'll never forget the day when the Sense of Humor Department lost its accreditation at Bradley University. It was a sad day in Peoria. It was a sadder day for the world.

Of course you have moved on! You were the slanderer. The slanderee is the one who will suffer forever.

Fine, I'll use the more commonly accepted term, victim.

FROM MERRIAM-WEBSTER
quote:

Main Entry: vic·tim
Pronunciation: 'vik-t&m
Function: noun
1 : a living being sacrificed to a deity or in the performance of a religious rite or religious supposition by IMJ.
2 : one that is subjected to oppression, hardship, or mistreatment by IMJ.

Yeah, what's the deal with that? I have a neighbor who felt the same way and switched to St. James. I've been at Pets for three years and haven't noticed the same thing. But then again, I "only" go to Church there. I haven't tried to get involved yet with any of the ministries. Maybe if I was more of a "social climber" I'd care. But all the parishoners (upper crust types and otherwise) I've met have been nothing but friendly.
