This is what I know about the power outage.(all information I was able to get was through my husband being on the volunteer fire department and their connection with DuComm - this is wher the 911 calls go to.)

A report came in for a wire down at 279 Oak, Then a call came in for a transformer fire at St. Charles & Western (Which was then responded to by the GEVFC and found to not be the case) Finally a call came in regarding a transformer fire at Kenilworth and Geneva.

When I called com Ed and finally was able to speak with someone they were able to tell me they were working on fixing it but could not give me any information on what caused it. Not a big surprise.

I will get some information from the GEVFC to see if they know what happened. If I get any other information I will post it.

Also, I asked ComEd to do an investigation of why I keep loosing power all the time...They stated they will research the last 12 months and give me a report. Let's see if they actually do their job or if they just say they are all weather related.

Finally, I spoke with Trustee Ladesic yesterday and he stated the person from ComEd who will be at the meeting will be a PR person... Right now I don't care who from ComEd is there as I just want to have uninterrupted power for 2 weeks!

It's ironic but ComEd's current slogan is "providing reliable energy to our customers".....YEAH RIGHT!

I noticed Vicky wasn't at your meeting last night, W.O.O. Any reason given for her absence?

No there was no reason given. I'd like to think it was because she was afraid my neighbor and I were going to be there. I'm curious how you thought it went. The guys from ComEd actually spoke with us after the meeting and said they would get back to us with specific findings on the area of North Glen Ellyn that consistently looses power. Our suggestion was to do another presentation with Glen Ellyn specifics at a board meeting in early October. Then it will be back to the Village to make sure they are working on fixing their internal issues and communication issues with the residents.

I honestly didn't see anything. Walked in with about a minute left and noticed that the English was sitting in for Vicky. Most likely...because she feared your presence.

I watched and thought that you both did a nice job. I wonder if my friend, Mr. Ruffalo, is an official ComEd customer now. I also thought that his request to investigate our own power service is a wonderful idea. I didn't care for the gushing thanks of ComEd at the end of the meeting and reiteration of the fact that the President Pro Temp does have any power issues - but maybe that was just the English hospitality coming through. I live two blocks from you and I have had the exact same power issues which you detail. I for one don't think that ComEd deserves glowing thanks for doing their job - or in this case, not really doing it.

Nonetheless, thanks for speaking for all of us.

One question that wasn't asked and needs to be asked: I understand that residential service is of the lowest priority but how does ComEd prioritize residential service? I would like to have that answered.

I will leave you with this. To quote last night's meeting: "Here's a picture of flooding....that wasn't taken of Glen Ellyn but very well could have been Glen Ellyn because you had a lot of water."

"Here's a picture of a downed tree.....the tree is in Mt. Prospect but you had downed trees. A tree like this may have caused some damage."

He is a customer now... ComEd made sure they got his information.

I whole heartedly agree with you on the "praise" given by the President Pro Tem. I think if he was in our area of town he might have had different words for him.

Let's see what they come back with as I not only have the Village Board involved but also Representative Pihos who told me to give her another call if they don't come back with an acceptable response to the continual lack of electrical service issues in our area.

That is kind of odd. Trustee President Pro Tem Norton, when finally given the bloody perfect opportunity to abstain from something...heaps on unnecessary and unwarranted praise.

Not to flog a dead horse, but the minutes are still not published to that famous Aug. 27 meeting.
