Two Glen Ellyn houses were burglarized this week. One near the underpass and one near Lake Ellyn. Watch for someone with a FedEx uniform, who may come to your door and pretend they have the wrong address if you're home. Get a license plate number if this happens. Another vehicle was described as a white construction-looking van with ladders. Not sure which was where or exactly when, but thought you'd like to know.
I received an email on this as well this morning, here is what it said:
Burglaries occurred Monday, October 20th, Neighbors noticed a suspicious gray van with a bad paint job and ladders on top near the house. Someone else observed an unmarked white van right in the location during this time frame. Allegedly, someone masquerading as a FedEx guy with the uniform, box and all – but no FedEx truck. Apparently the guy comes up to your house and knocks or rings. If you answer, he apologizes says he got the wrong address.
I got the same email (about the burglary at Duane and Taylor, not the one near Lake Ellyn). In addition, it was mentioned that the Trib reported a sexual assault of a women the other night in downtown Wheaton. (I don't know for sure if the Trib reported this, though; I'm just passing heresay along.)
Don't all the pundits say that when the economy tanks, crime goes up? I wonder if that's what we're seeing (except for the stupid kids and the marijuana thing; that's timeless).
