Well at least they are committing to having something done this year. I work as a Project Manager and I wish I could be as vague as these folks when it comes to commiting to milestones. I wonder if they have solved the issues with the nefarious boulders?

"Geneva Road will be turned into a one-way, westbound street for a short length between Stacy Court and Five Corners, allowing for shorter wait times for traffic on the other streets."
Everything that I've heard turns St. Chas. into a one-way street going west between Main St. and Western.

Yeah, right. And I think the Easter Bunny is real.
Don't believe it until you see it. The County's been jerking us around with start date promises on this project for years. No reason to accept "slated" as fact this time any more than in years past.
Right up there with undergrounding the utility wires that cross Roosevelt Road.

Gotta side with Ted, they don't seem serious about getting this done anytime soon. I'll settle for the county changing the light at Elm/Main. I can't believe how long that light stays red when you are going North-South.

Drove the fam down Western today, first time in a long time. Don't know what the complaints about speed are all about. I could only get up to 55 before I had to turn west on Hawthorne.
And what is up with that shanty just east of the intersection of Newton and Hawthorne? looks like it belongs in Jamaica, not GE....

You talking 'bout the shed like brownish thing on the south side of Hawthorne? With blue tarps?
That house looked like crap from day one. I used to pass it every day when I walked 5 miles uphill in the snow both ways to and from Glen Ellyn Jr, High (as it was known way back then). Go Wildcats!
I has looked like that for more than 7 years - as long as my kids were making the trek to Hadley. I think the kids regularly called it the "Do-it-yourself house" or some such thing. Quite the eyesore. Gotta love that they apparently found the exactly correct model car to go with their home style...
Maybe we should be ulta-catty and do a survey of other eyesores in the village.
My nominee is on a corner lot on the W side of Park, a couple of blocks S of Hill. Hard to interpret that lime green paintjob as anything other than a big F-you to their neighbors. Set off by the lovely unpainted cinderblock rear addition. Provides a perfect setting for the life-sized male nude statue that moves about their lawn.
What a mess it will be when they detour all the traffic to Western.
Didn't the article in the Tribune this morning mention "When bids are received and contracts awarded." This implies a longer timetable.
Someone please tell me the Constuction Activities will include the removal of the shell of a sign for the automotive place on the NE corner of the intersection.
The geniuses on the road crew just dug through the underground cable lines on the shoulder of St Charles Road. So now we have no service. Haven't they ever heard of JULIE?
