Was I on vacation when the little trucks pumping poison into the sky drove around, or have they not been here? I have never seen anything quite like this apparently deet-resistant strain of mosquitos. They attack and attack. Most unpleasant. Where are the trucks that kill the mosquitos (and other insects...and birds for that matter)? W................T..............F?
I have yet to see the mosquito spray truck on this side of the tracks - Also waiting for the village to pick up branches from the storm damage. I blame VH.
I haven't seen any. Do you remember the trucks from 30 or more years ago? I loved that smell. Some cancer causing agent that killed anything that crawed, but it had a penetrating oder. Brings a fond memory like sniffing fresh ditto paper.
I'd actually get up and look for my tax bill if I truly cared...but don't we still pay for that service? If ever in the history of Glen Ellyn there was a need for a dented, dark blue Chevy S-10 pick-up with a flashing amber light on top making its way down Glen Ellyn Place...it is now.
I find it hard to blame Vicky Hase for this round of mosquitos...but if you feel she is responsible...I'll certainly back you.
I was just thinking the same thing. I remember seeing them last year, but not one this year. I thought they usually post when and where they are spraying so Fido and Rover don't get a dose. Haven't seen anything.

Mosquito Abatement is a line item on our tax bills and is performed by a separate governmental body, not the VoGE. Not exactly certain why. IIRC, they try for late June/early July so the town is mosquitoless for the 4th of July festivities.
The parks seemed much less infested over the weekend. Perhaps the PDistrict does their own abatement? Dunno.
JRPotts, should we be bringing you meals or anything? Yeesh!
I heard the truck a few weeks ago - probably 8:30 or 9 pm - and remember that because it seemed earlier in the evening than I usually would hear the thing in years past. I can't say I've heard it go by more than that one time, though my husband and I had been remarking all summer how low on mosquitos we are and then BAM! payback.

It's rare...I know....but it's not a criticism of GE. I believe this is a county issue.
Just wanted to let you guys know that those of us on the east side of the river were visited by the sprayer last nite...in fact it seemed like he passed by about 4 times within the hour. Thank God...I don't know about your pests, but ours were meeting us at the driveway as the cars pulled in...looked like some were big enough to carry us away...traveled in swarms too!.

Went to Walmart to buy batteries and mosquito spray. I got batteries, but two entire shelves were bare where the mosquito spray and ointment should have been. They can't keep it in stock. Still haven't seen the county mosquito truck. 7 or 8 weeks now. What gives?
