I would strongly encourage everyone to make time to get to the Downtown Plan "Design Studio" set up in the storefront next to Costello's Jeweler's. The Studio is open until 9:00 tonight and from 9:00 am until noon tomorrow. The studio provides an opportunity to add your two cents on what types of businesses and such you would like to see downtown and to share your vision of how you see our downtown as we move into the nineties.

If you're sick of me, don't read Schoolweek this week (though I'm proud to be a guest columnist). I also sent a letter to the editor about the Ackerman Woods situation so I could get published for that.

Very funny, Fan. Razz

And middlein, thank you for defending my honor when slapped with the Zlotow name (though somtimes I agree with his letters) as I really don't TRY to get my name in the paper like Walt does.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to not agree with some of what your male counterpart authors. The dude is so prolific in his writing that it's like the old adage...if you throw enough ****, some of it is bound to stick.

Don't forget tonight's Wrap-Up Meeting at 476 N Main Street, 7:00pm. On the wall will be the drawings of residents who gave their input. Some pretty neat ideas are up there.

Man - who has time for all of this?

Park District Meetings
Charettes
Meet and Greets
Idea Sessions
Final Meetings
Board Meetings
School Board Meetings

Argh.....

I'm vowing to never attend another meeting other than those where my presence is required.

BTW - I don't even know what a charette is. Sound like something that would give you lung cancer....or it sounds French....aren't we still boycotting the French for not invading Iraq with us?

Fan, You should attend one of these, just so I could read your posts afterward. I must say the second half was very interesting. Someone mentioned the homeless situation or the perception it creates, but apparently no one wants to address it as if it were a problem. One person even mentioned (after the meeting) how their spouse was assaulted by a pads patron while caring her newborn baby. Fortunately Liz from Duck Duck Goose was alerted to the situation and helped out the mother and child by holding open the door to her store as a retreat and locking it after they entered so the homeless lady couldn't follow.

GEM, Candidate or Amy - Could any of you tell me if on Monday some residents actually suggested, as the GE News reports, that "installing greenspace on both sides of the Metra railroad tracks to replace the parking lots" would be "more inviting to Metra passengers than rows of cars."

This is an example of the ideas being generated? I'm pretty sure Metra passengers want to see their cars, or loving spouses waiting for them in a car near the train, when they get back to GE after a long day's work.

Don't forget that every car owner has paid the Village hundreds of dollars for that parking pass. Smile

GEMom2 - thought the exact same thing.

GEM - I don't have patience for people....there's no way I would have been able to sit through one of those sessions.

Isn't that a bad quality for a lawyer to have?

Please tell me I wouldn't see this scene in your practice-"Listen buddy, I could sit here and listen to how Kerr-Magee gave you cancer, but I've got a golf date. Take the $50,000 and pray that you live to spend it."

No. It's my best quality - I don't put up with any bull sh!t.....be it my clients or someone else's.

It does likely explain why I couldn't work for someone and need to control what matters I work on.

What I'm proud of - I've never been fired by a client..........yet, I've fired at least 15.

What do you say when you "fire" a client?

A) I don't think I'm a good fit for what you need.

B) My minimum retainer is $100,000. Cash.

C) You're story has become tiresome, now is the time that we dance on Sprokets

Dieter

D) You know sir/maam, just talking to you has lowered my IQ ten points, get out of my sight.

Am I the only knuckle head going to these meetings? (Mon & Wed) I thought there would be more posts about it.
