What's the point if the Village won't follow the guidelines they already have?? Well, maybe the new guidelines will state "There are no guidelines".

So Ms Haase our village leader describes the changes as major though she hasn't seen the actual ordnance. So there asking for feedback from the public but they arent telling you what that ordnance is going to do or say or be about. But that it's only for downtown and multi-family housing. So you have to wonder about this one.

"Public comment" is a mere formality to avoid people coming back and accusing the village board of informalities later on. Don't kid youself.... decisions on anything major are signed and sealed long before the public will ever get their say.

Ms Hasse did an ecellent job with the new clinic and she knows that what downtown GE needs is more modern architecture including green glass and aluminum awnings. She also was very attentive to the views of the public so I know that these new rules will be what we all have been looking for.

Sounds like you're saying Ms. Hase would like to just blow up the whole works and start from scratch. Eek(Ordnance = ammunition)

Mrs. O'Leary's cow did wonders for the city of Chicago.

It is amazing that Tricky Vicki did not want to even listen to residents regarding the looks of the clinic and now she wants input. I would guess that it is way too late to change to the new ugly clinic although the old ugly clinic is going bye bye

the clinic this, the clinic that. Geez peeps, give it a rest. The clinic is going to be stylin, and look WAY better than what is there now. The current place looks like something out of a Brady Bunch episode! The building will fit the style, the parking lot will be the same except for where the vacant lots were (which could have been occupied by other BETTER things but the neighbors shot them all down, so there), and everything will be fine. Get over it!

Does the new style include empty stores? Can a brother get a Gap or Banana Republic in one of the empty buildings down there?!?!?

A brother can't get a Gap or a Banana Republic. A brother will never get a Gap or Banana Republic. A brother needs minimal ceiling height which the brother's town doesn't offer. Plus, if a brother really wants either of those stores, they are conveniently located 3 or 4 miles away in Wheaton. A brother can, however, get another bank. Enjoy that.

geez, I have my money in 17 different GE banks now, I can't afford to spread it any thinner by adding an 18th! Between the 37 hair salons, 29 banks, and 28 other hair salons, you would thing we could get something different for once!

lurking. I have been lurking. But after the near miss with joggers this morning and seeing diapers laying in my street last night (for like the 10th time) next to an empty garbage, I thought I would chime in.

Private individuals and corporations dictate what stores will be opened in any given town...including GE. Unfortunately, this town does not offer anything that remotely resembles attractive retail space for anyone silly enough to want to open a business here. Until building owners get off their collective asses and modernize/fix up the available space and rent it out at reasonable rent levels...you will continue to see what you see now. Enjoy.
