What a forward thinking group. With all of this subjective language, who determines what is "historic architecture", "quality materials and craftsmanship", etc.? Where should the infill locations go? What is an appropriate building and what is not? We all know that 1 million dollar Colonials with "bad" renovations deserve to be destroyed. And that 200 thousand dollar split level heaps of wood deserve to be preserved because of their link back to the classic architectural renaissance period of post war 1940s. But where does this preservation committee stand on commercial buildings? Just wait and see. "If you were the Governor of any other state, you would be a disgrace to that state." |

I was told that the owners of the property on Main Street that recently renovated adding a stone facade and copper detail had a difficult time getting that approved. Something along the lines of the stones being too rough and someone not liking the copper.
I had meant to post for some time how attractive I thought that renovation was. Also, reading that CBD statement gave me a headache - please define vibrant. It seems that word does not mean what I think it means. |

You can write stuff like this because there is a snowball's chance in hell of it ever happening. "If the cap fits, wear it." |

Teardowns?
How does this section on teardowns help their cause? In my humble opinion, all of the homes that replaced the prior, decrepit, homes, are absolutely beautiful. In fact, this section, to me, merely dictates the futile and out of touch nature of this group's motivations. There are certainly some battles worth fighting; but when you fight them all, the aggressors appear foolish. And then when you add in a dose of hypocrisy, they become totally insignificant. "If you were the Governor of any other state, you would be a disgrace to that state." |

I am DELIGHTED that the Banyan Tree Mall is being preserved as a model of late 70's architecture. there is even a plaque right in side the door lauding it's design from some village commision. i am so proud.

7. The view that you have to the west is just fine and the home that is standing there should stay there. MYTH! Studies have proven that if you have a tear down-happy neighbor and she is wanting to tear down perfectly fine home next to yours, the view that you have after the doomed house comes down is actually way better than it was before! More sun, more green space...more everything! Psyche!
Where was the outrage from the C4GEP when that house came down and all that remains is a pile mud and ****? No home deserves to come down in GE unless it is beneficial to someone involved with the C4GEP. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Clamato, "If the cap fits, wear it." |

Why are you back on this topic? It is a worthy topic but what pissed you off so much that you decided to post in it again?
Just curious, that's all. "If you were the Governor of any other state, you would be a disgrace to that state." |

Made a right on Crescent Circle instead of the usual left in order to show Parker the damage to the hill and overall carnage. That's when I saw the "unexpected" benefit gained by someone near and dear to the hearts of the C4GEP. The home to the east stands alone...views gloriously unencumbered by the Taj Mahal.
FWIW, I am contemplating knocking Brad's house down so I can see the football games a little better in the fall. "If the cap fits, wear it." |

Hey, cut the guy a little slack. At least he was out there battling the dandelions on Sunday morning while you were out gallivanting about in the manwagon! |
