At the risk of getting a tongue lashing may I answer with one word? YES
Fortunately Houseal Lavigne, being the true professionals that they are, has offered to do our website for free. You may remember that Dan Gardner a very talented Analyst/Planner and former Village Trustee joined Houseal Lavigne after the RFP's went out and was instrumental in making that offer along with John Houseal and Devin Lavigne.
Hilarious. That "Mickey Mouse'-charveted dude and his clan can't get its act together and get a fricken' website up...so HL does it for them. Don't get me wrong, it appears to benefit us as a community, but it definitely benefits HL by making the competition look "Goofy." I would have thought it impossible to make that crew at TBS any "Dopey"-er...but apparently it can be done.
I am sorry, I don't mean to be negative, but if I was TBS, I would have spent a fortune on the site just to stop all the negativity swirling around them and make themselves look semi competent. Take a freakin lose on this one just to clear the bad funk going on. They area already a laughing stock in a certain company I know, a pretty large company that will never hire them for anything do to their handling of this trainwreck.
Having HL do the site just makes TBS look even more incompetent and disfunctional. Is HL collecting all the data from the site and supplying it to TBS or is TBS just using the site and using HL's hosting? Why was this not installed on the Glen Ellyn Website? If I was TBS, I would be embarrassed to have it hosted at HL's site! I mean, this is just a freakin joke. TBS hasn't even updated their site proclaiming their "win" on scoring this gig, hell, it doesn't even look like they have touched their site in months.
What's with the rhino? Apparently rhino's don't do websites.

It always astounds me when someone in business doesn't even put forth the minimal effort required to make it appear as tho they are on the ball, getting things done. Crap, you could toss a sawbuck at a teenager and ask them to spend half an hour on a weekend, just to make the site look like it was updated, and things were being done.
Of course, I bet the real explanation is that they have been too darned busy working their tails off to improve our downtown, such that they don't even have a spare moment to waste on little things like PR. You agree that has to be the most likely explanation, don't you?
No, that is a poor excuse. I have been extremely (EXTREMELY) busy lately, but I find time to update my site. Over the weekend, I completely redid the entire site, a complete rebuild. 16 hours of work and I have another 8 hours or more to do. But by Tuesday or Wednesday, version 2.0 will be up and running. You have to stay fresh on the web to keep people interested, so I took an entire weekend of my time to bite the bullet (taking a lose so to speak) to get myself more up to date. The web is one of the best marketing tools, and if you do not update your best tool, then you will be a laughing stock like TBS are right now (and trust me, they ARE a laughing stock here in the building I am sitting in right now). Every time I scored a new gig, I put a shout out to the client on my site. If I just scored $100k from the village of Glen Ellyn, I would give them a shout out. It takes all of 5 minutes to change a line of text on a webpage. I fear that TBS is just an organization with absolutely no promotion, marketing, or business sense, so why should I believe they could do the job they were hired to do? Especially when one of the things they offered to do as part of their contract agreement is currently being built and by their main competitor and hosted on their main competitor's site?
Isn't that because you have an Apple? Each platform has its advantages and spell check for Apple is a great one for Apple! This would be a great debate for a chat room or a b-board party discussion. I would truly enjoy it as I have used both and see advantages for both. Guess the best of both worlds would be one of each and I am seriously considering it.

You can run Safari on a PC. It will spell check your posts. I'm actually shocked Blue Echoes doesn't use Safari.
