BlueEchoes = Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Therefore, I bow at the Alter of Gates. Actually, all our web based software we use at my place of employment requires IE, so I am forced by our software providers (who must bow as well) to go IE.

The website don't work now. I guess you get what you pay for. Houseal Lavigne must be the same company that does the Civic Betterment party website. Wink

Yeah...the thing went down yesterday. Totally cool mystery. I'll bet it had something to do with those meddling kids at TBS or our village president.

Hmmmmm. Very interesting.

I remember when TBS promised a web-site by the end of March. It would really suck to be TBS. I am a fighter by nature, but for only 100M, I would have scrapped this project as given the history here, they are in a no-win situation.

A helpful calendar for Mr. Louthen and crew.

Also, a couple of helpful sites for them in order to wow potential clients at the next big meeting:

At the risk of getting a tongue lashing may I answer with one word?
YES

Fortunately Houseal Lavigne, being the true professionals that they are, has offered to do our website for free. You may remember that Dan Gardner a very talented Analyst/Planner and former Village Trustee joined Houseal Lavigne after the RFP's went out and was instrumental in making that offer along with John Houseal and Devin Lavigne.

Free my a$$. They are just hanging around with their foot in the door until after the "plan" is created by the end of the year. Shortly thereafter 4/7 of the board will change and they'll be buttering up the the new folks telling them how wonderful a job they did with their broken website to get the multi-year contract to project manage the implementation. I bet I know who you vote for. Wink

maybe HL built the website on their end and they are now transfering it over the the GE or TBS site. that would mean it may be up at the GE or TBS site as we speak....

Actually, HL's website is hosted at 1and1.com, which is not a very reliable hosting company lately and they are also hosting their DNS. The site is there, it looks to be a DNS issue. They may be transfering it to another provider or over to TBS's provider. I think the site is fine, I think it is just a DNS issue.

The link is at GE's site, but coming up with a time out issue. They must be moving the DNS or hosting of it.

What respectable IT guy performs maintenance or moves a site in the middle of the business day. You get what you pay for!

Actually, if you were to move a domain to another host or move the DNS to say network solutions, it takes 24-48 hours to "populate" the internet. So it would be moving during a business day or two. IP addesses and domain names need to be moved and resolved and it takes that long to do so, unless of course you can freeze time gotrocks.

This would only take place if they were changing the hosting of the site though, but since HL's name is in the site address, all they would have to do is move the files to another server, say TBS's, and it should work. There would be no reason to move the domain unless they were trying to align billing and the likes. So maybe the site is just broken.

And seriously, don't businesses do free work to get more work all the time? This is just a smart business practice, correct? To make money, you have to spend money? yes? HL is just implementing smart business practices to align themselves in the future.

I'm glad to hear that you can laugh. Now doesn't that beat the chronic complaining that makes up most of your posts. Big Grin

Where else can one go to complain but the not-so-anonymous GEBB?
