quote: Such doubters on this board. Mark my words; By the Spring of 2011 when these rowhouses are finished, the current housing woes and "cyclical" downturn in the CBD will be a faded memory.

The all-around sadness surrounding this issue continues. At one point, a photo studio was supposed to be built on the two empty lots of this block. Although different in exterior style, the studio was similar in purpose to the handsome Maude group building across the street - first level commercial, upper floor for living/office. At the hearing for said photo studio, Michael Leftkow came to Glen Ellyn and spoke of his family's history here. His grandmother had occupied the white house with green trim at the Glenwood intersection. Judge Humphrey Leftkow appeared with her husband and spoke of their willingness to eventually retire together to live in that house. Not surprising that she sold it after he was slain...

crap! My wife and I looked at one of these houses when we were house hunting back in '03. I liked one of them for the old home character, my wife did not, especially the 'stone carved basement'. Shoulda got it and held out for big cash with the developer...
