Has anyone else had a problem with the way the tree trimming company has been operating in and about Glen Ellyn? I may be whining over nothing, but it seems they are blocking off entire blocks of streets without any notice or detour signage.
I have called Public Works, and checked the website for notices, and I cannot find anything. Had to park a block away from the daycare this morning and walk with two kids under three years old (And all their requisite winter stuff). The worst part was they trimmed branches right over our heads as we were walking on the sidewalk, dropping debris on the parkway right next to us.
Last week, I had to detour around Western Ave closure to find they had blocked off Hawthorne eastbound as well. Is there a plan notice out there that I am missing?
When I was a child, I wished for that kind of scenario. Walking one block with limbs falling perilously close to me? Please, Rob. I used to walk 4.6 miles to school, uphill, both ways...in snow...the entire year. Not certain how that happened, but it did.

You too? I thought that was only my dad....or at least that's what he always told me.
Not sure about the dangers of the trimming but I must say that whoever did our trees last week in the greater Western area did a great job! They actually considered what branches they were chopping down. I was very impressed.
We've had a big, red X on our large parkway tree for....like, forever and the village tells us it will get taken down yet, the contracted workers did all the trimming and removed the badly damaged tree down the street but didn't take ours. What gives? I'm trying not to nag the village about it. But yes, the closing of streets comes without warning.
