quote:

Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the Best patients to operate on.

The first surgeon, from New York , says, 'I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up,everything inside is numbered.'

The second, from Chicago , responds, 'Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.'

The third surgeon, from Dallas , says, 'No, I really think librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order.'

The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in: 'You know, I like construction workers... Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over.'

But the fifth surgeon, from Washington , DC shut them all up when he observed: 'You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains and no spine, and the head and the *** are interchangeable...

I just got this e-mail and thought it would fit.

The more I think about it, the more confused I am by Mr. Diehl's involvement. I'll bet the poop hits the fan in one way or another here.

Mark it down as just having a bad feeling.

Has anyone tried googling the "developments" in their online portfolio?

Not having much success. Maybe they are in process, but I'd be really interested in seeing what they have proposed on previous engagements that has actually been implemented.

It's similar to hiring a web development consultant.... you don't ask them to show you designs of websites they have "drawn up". You ask them to send your the URLs of websites they've actually completed and launched.

Hi,

I'll apologize upfront if I misread the article about the group input on the work that TownBuilders is doing. But I think I read that they (the group who were offering input) supposedly ALL algreed that we need to make our downtown streets open to two-way traffic. If so, I think that is a TERRIBLE idea. One of the few things I do like about driving in our little downtown area is the one way streets and how they keep traffic flowing. Even when there is a train at the tracks, I can sometimes still make a left turn from the left lane heading north on Main street and turn onto Crescent. That would not work if we had 2 way traffic. And yes, I do think there would be trucks and a lot more traffic cutting through our downtown just to get from point A to point B. No - not stopping to shop.

All told, I was not impressed with what they had to offer thus far. It seemed to me that all they did was regurgitate the same old ideas and challenges that everyone else has. What I was hoping for were bold, interesting and innovative ideas to get things going in our downtown.

I am particularly disappointed that the issue of all the homeless people staking claim to our downtown has not been addressed. That is a big concern for many people, myself included.

Now that I hear they've hired an outside consultant I am not surprised at all.

If this issue is ever addressed....I'll wash and wax your car and polish all of your shoes. Got the survey with the waterbill and I added about a page and half of thoughts regarding the bums. Nothing will come of it. NOTHING.

was thinking about some of these proposals while walking thru town this glorious evening, and it seemed to me that these folk are talking about making a "grand gesture." Something big, expensive, and obvious - while what is more likely needed is a large number of small actions, to bring more people downtown at different times.

Thinking like these proposals is how you end up with a floral clock. Nothing wrong with floral clocks if everything else is humming along just wonderfully, but perhaps not the best initial step...

I apologize for what appears to be a hack into the image I had originally posted-Mirror Universe Spock. Ever since I've been in N.C., I've had issue with my work computer, our IT department is working to determine if it's been hacked or if it's other issues. As it is now I have to use the Holiday Inn business center computer.

probably other issues. Some sites, if you link photos from them, will automatically post a different image to stop that person from linking back to them, taking up their bandwidth. Some websites do it in a nice way, some do it in a very nasty way like what came up in your image.
