Is it too much to ask the Village to have the streets which access the schools (in my case, Hadley) in decent condition? The snow fell 15 hours ago and Hawthorne was a mess at 7:15.

My morning got off on the wrong foot when, once again, the plow driver piled mounds of snow on either end of our drive. The mounds spilled down, blocking our driveway's apron with VERY heavy snow - piled about two feet high. These are the only places they can think of to put it? My garbage and recycling is sitting about eight feet from the curb and my shoulder hurts from scooping.

Main roads in town were okay this morning, but side streets were still pretty snowy - and getting narrower with each snowfall! Be careful out there. Eek

I'm on what I consider a major street --- Lorraine --- and I don't think they did much plowing here either. What gives?

Friday, our neighborhood south of teddy, did not get plowed until 2pm. My cul de sac was not plowed until 5pm on Friday......Is Glen Ellyn short on road salt, because, I did not see any salt on the roads in Glen Ellyn?

The plowing this winter has been a joke, no resident should have to take his snow blower out into the culdesac and blow the snow, becuase the village can't get out there before 5pm the next day....

I gotta say here on the north side things are different. I made a comment to myself on the way to work how nicely all the roads seemed. I suggest you move north of the tracks. Wink Of course that would take you out of the running for the remaining plan commission appointments, or so it would seem.

The streets by Hadley are always bad. My street is usually not plowed for a long time after the snow has stopped falling.

I always thought we only have one plow and that's a volunteer position, right?
Oh - nevermind, I found our Village brochure:snow brochure

and remember:

"• The only feasible method of snowplowing of
streets is using side-delivery snowplows — which, unfortunately,
may cause an accumulation of snow at the end of driveways. (many times over)!
• Shoveling snow into the street is prohibited. It creates an unsafe
condition for drivers."

Etc. Etc.

Fish, your comment and my comment about the plan commission got legs today. Oh and another thing, seriously, does Glen Ellyn lay salt on the streets anymore?

What kind of legs do you speak of?

IIRC, your vehicle looked as though it could climb several different types of mountain ranges.

Do the South of Teddy people usually not take part in these things, like the planning commission? I am interested in serving the village in some way, but I don't want it to interfere with my serving the youth sports, especially those of IMJ jr. I really enjoy coaching his teams, and I don't want to miss that.

As I was reading some of the information that 4MP sent me, it is very interesting, and very technical in code enforcement and stuff. I wonder if I have the experience to be a contributor in these issues.

You're perfect for the job simply because of the location of your house. Awesome concept.

Why, what do you know? Are they about to level my neighborhood in favor of a water park or something?

Or because I am the only South of Teddy idiot that posts on here?

I'm just guessing here, but doesn't "South of Teddy" live south of Teddy too?

Did you get plowed out yet?
To answer your question, we were getting low on salt along with most of our neighboring suburbs.
We don't have much space to properly store it so we have to get it in small quantities but this time there was very little to be found.
How big is your cul de sac?
