GE Christmas tree

"Mayor Hase, there's a Charlie Brown on line 2, something about getting his tree back"

Hopefully the lowest boughs are full enough to shelter the local bums from severe weather.

Oh well, I'd like to see a mini tree in the trough regardless, it's a nice sight to see as you drive in toward downtown.

This Village still needs a nice green space downtown. I think it's time to tear down that ugly brown-sided 70's thing (and some neighboring stores) across from the Civic Center and turn that into a nice little park. Plant a big pine for Xmas and call it good.

Finally- they have retired the fake, ugly tree...... if only they would allow the creative and talented to go forth with their offerings of charm to this village without all the "over the top" complexities!!

Given the location of the old tree...you should have a say on how it is decorated.

Is the new tree going to be near the bulletin board?

The fresh new tree is up and on the south east corner of main and crescent in front of the bulletin board. Our local talent from Florae, fortunately, is dressing the tree and the water trough-he was working on it over last weekend. For all to know, the Holiday Walk will be "exceptional" this year!! so we expect to see ALL GE Residents in town with ALL of their out of town guests and be generous in their spirit!!

The tree looked nice this AM and will look really nice when lit up. There were a few things within grasp that I can guarantee will disappear...such is the nature of some youth and sticky-fingered housewives in GE Big Grin

If the retailers are generous with their spirits...I can assure you that the town folk will be generous in spirit.

We are in the spirit!! The Holiday Walk is a time for the retailers to thank their customers for their patronage- many offer refreshments, special savings and in-store entertainment. Most have wonderful services you will never find at "the malls" like personal shopping services-call in with your needs-we select, gift box/wrap and deliver (free) in Dupage Cty. Should be a wonderful-exciting evening!!!!

So, what is the secret sign GEBBers will use to identify each other? a red scarf around the left shoulder? a sweatshirt that says, "Vivoda is my hero?" or just a name tag that says, "Hi, my name is Clam"?

It's the spending, Stupid!

It is a little pathetic. Couldn't they find a fuller tree? I guess when you only want to go to plainfield to find it, that is all you are going to find....

How about we all carry a bucket of KFC with us....or perhaps we should just meet next to Camp! Wink Michael would LOVE that!

The tree isn't so bad and definitely better than that artificial thing.

#1 the village only gave $100 toward the tree purchase
#2 let's wait to see what it looks like lit up before we make our final decision
#3 michael from florae donated his time since july trying to get this done
#4 if the opinion is that ge wants a real tree, maybe next year we can start the search earlier or do a "nominate your tree" campaign in town
#5 it's only a christmas tree - people!!! either get a life or get involved
