We got it, it just wasn't very funny. |

And in that, we have the nut of the problem.
Some see a family renting a home in Glen Ellyn and a child attending Glen Ellyn schools with her friends as neighbors and fellow Glen Ellynites. It was true that they allowed a recent PADS client into their home, but the little Glen Ellyn girl, eight years old apparently, knew none of these labels and was unaware that anyone saw her as differant or "not one of us", she was simply in her home. A place she felt was safe. That dangerous people, with serious issues and history's make up the majority of PADS clients, is no reason to feel any less sorry for this little girls tragic loss of innocence and trust, the shattering of her sense of personal security is horrendous. She is not to blame. The fault lies not with the victim but with the Rapist. One should not fall prey to any implicit suggestion that Rapists will enter homes on an invitation only basis. Nor should we ever deny the humanity of an event by emphasizing or exploiting the differences among us in an effort to diminish our empathy for our neighbors. |

Is it a typo when rapist is typed with an upper case "r"? Or does it give the word a proper name for effect.

Is that a question or a statement? I have a copy of some of the court file, want to see it? Pretty disgusting whether it's an upper or lower case R. As an aside, the victim's name is in the court file for anyone to see, but you won't get that from me. I am a dyslexic agnostic insomniac. I lay awake at night wondering if there is a dog. |

On July 15, 2008 Anthony P. Jackson entered a guilty plea on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. I don't think any of our local papers covered the matter. I have to think that zero attention was paid to the court proceedings because it concerned the rape of a homeless person's child and that is somehow not important. The victim is victimized again. The message to her is clear, she doesn't matter.

I don't care to read any court file. I practice in an arena that has nothing but heartache and sadness. And I will not get into this discussion. I merely point out that plurals, bold, and upper case are not typographical errors.

And what secret message is contained within your misuse of an Oxford comma? Your sentence may have been more accurately written as: 'I merely point out that plurals, bold and upper case are not (always) typographical errors.' I did capitalize rapist to emphasize the term, but please remember Freud's take on this, "Sometimes a Cigar, ... is just a cigar." |

You give me too much grammatical credit to know what that means.

Don't forget to check out your grammar at the Facilities Steering Committee meeting at Churchill tonight at 7:00 PM, Ron. Shouldn't it be: 'I merely point out that plurals, bold and upper case(,) are not (always) typographical errors |

I should add that my perception of people being intelligent on this BB is not what was inaccurate. It was my belief that the intelligence here would understand who was the focus of my pastor's statements.

I won't even try to quote the statistics and I'm not going to spend any time looking them up, but a MAJORITY of child predators are known, trusted adults, not boogie men hiding in the bushes. If that's the concern then people should be volunteering at the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. And, one more thing, does anyone on this board really believe that any other person, whether for or against PADS, is condoning something horrible happening to a little girl? Even implying that is to paraphrase or perhaps even quote jombl, "ignorant beyond redemption". |

Get serious. This is the intro from her attack:
Now I ask you, where does it mention GE Safety? She is secifically speaking of the people who post on this board. She drew first blood, NOT Jombl. "You shouldn't soil your Sunday pants, like those other foolish ants." |

And look she even singled out Clam:

Okay... new rule. Until further notice, let's keep religion off the board. Especially as it relates to personal beliefs and opinions regarding the clergy of local houses of worship... pro or con.
I know that makes for a fuzzy line between what is and is not appropriate. But trust me: I'll know it when I see it. --TedE |

About a million years ago when I was learning how to live in this world, I was told to never discuss religion or politics in public. Since religion, either pro or con has never been on my radar, as everyone believes so differently, I never gave it much thought until lately. Now I am beginning to see the value and wisdom in that lesson. As for politics I understand that we never will agree and that is why we have two parties. The fact that I realize the politics part is too bad because I got an awesome email today that I guess I had best not share here. Now you all will just have to live without my post turtle info as it breaks the politics part of the rule.

A million years ago, and in another life, I hosted a talk radio show. The only rules were, “No politics or religion.” Could you imagine telling today's talkers, 'no politics“?
Anyway... For now, politics is still fair game here on the BB. Although I'd love to find a way to make posters say why we should vote for their candidate rather than against the other... and/or to make everybody stick to issues and forget about personalities. Maybe in another lifetime. --TedE |

And, before you institute my suggested rule of showing more respect to our fellow posters, I am so glad you removed that idiot Fan's post. What a moron!

Removed the post and (finally) the poster. Thank God/Allah/El/Shakti/Ganesh/Etc.
BTW, sex ought to be included with politics and religion as sex and religion and sex and politics all seem to go hand-in-hand. |
