So, seems the property that the Lutheren Church is on at Forest and Pennsylvania is set to undergo a bunch of changes. Whatever...

The funny part is that the planning commission just sent out the meeting notice with all of the changes. Guess the date/time that the community is supposed to come over the see the plans/voice their concerns????

Wait for it....

Yes, February 14 at 7:30. So, unless you can talk your significant others into spending a nice romantic Valentine's Day at the "GE Civic Center", this should go through relatively without discussion.

If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd think something was up!

I have it on good authority that the date and time was requested by Alison so she could, for once, enjoy Valentine's Day.

The corner of Crescent and Forest that is the antique store/used book store is now owned by Grace Lutheran. They want the use of the property for something. What that something is will probably be announced that night. If any of you are able to go to then meeting, it might be in the community's interest to do so. Just say'in.

I have it on good authority that all 11 members of the Plan Commission are single, asexual, unromantic scrooges who don't want to spend time with anyone other than the general public and their co-commissioners on Valentine's Day. Instead, they would rather spend their time at the Civic Center.

I further have it on good authority that this scheduling was intentionally done to cut down on public input on this project (even though no one showed up to opine on this project the first time it was up).

Yep, it's true. This date was intentionally set as a conspiracy and the Plan Commissioners think it is awesome.

Silly me, I thought we were talking about the corner of Forest and Pennsylvania.

I received the notice today and just took a quick glance at it.

Grace Church justs need a special use permit and some variances.

They want to have a bigger footprint for their expansion project and are asking for
shorter setbacks from the public right of way.

They are required to have 60 some parking spaces (they now have 22) and they want to drop that down to 20 spaces.

They also want to build to a height of 65 feet instead of the allowed 60 feet.

There may be some additional things, but nothing major.

F.Y.I. This project has been in the works for 4+ years. Where was your opinion then?

Some actually care about their community. . . Others, may enjoy a sense of authority.

Why don't some of you get involved with village government?

Some of us are involved in the village government. Some were placed in their positions because they sucked up to the CBP. Some were elected because the CBP sucks. Some have tried to become involved only to be told we don't live on the right side of town. The "right" side of town statement is, of course, a pretext. I am simply blackballed.

It always amuses me when people take on people and they have no clue who they are. Knowing all of the parties involved...I am giggling. Sorry...chuckling. I am chuckling.

If history is any indication, this works out great. Order take-out, attend meeting, pick up take out when it is ready after meeting (still may have to wait) and proceed home to enjoy with spouse. Wink

Guffaw is more appropriate. GEM, you should not break your finger wagging it at some of these people.

You're right. . . It's more fun to just listen to them complain. Same gripes, different topic.

GEM - Take a step back. The point is, you don't have a clue as to who people who post on this board are and what they do or don't do for the Village. So, I think what some were trying to say is stop the accusations as it is making you look quite foolish. No, very foolish. You'd be surprised how many people on here are involved and what positions they hold...or in the case of the biggest griper of them all, Clamato, don't hold.

Not that involvement is a necessary pretext to complaining or praising.
