As Monday night approaches I feel it is important that we continue to encourage our village president to take a long, sober look at what has happened to this village under her watch.

I suppose missteps and mistakes of the past mean very little at this point. Suffice it to say, it appears that she voluntarily and eagerly took a job that she had to have known was beyond her capabilities. While I do not blame her personally for what has happened to the CBD and other aspects of the community, I do blame her and her administration for dragging their collective feet and hiding from the problem for as long as they have. She now finds herself in a position where she is looking for an ultra-quick fix. Whatever her reasons, and I personally believe them to be as simple as immaturity in her behavior (one only needs to look back at her exchange on Monday night with Trustee Armstrong to understand what I am referring to) and her dislike for certain members on the village board, I am fairly certain that she is making the wrong decision with regard to TBS and it would benefit all involved if she stood back and slowed things down. This is not a sprint, rather a marathon. If we have to wait another 3-6 months in order to make the proper decision, so be it. With the upcoming spate of store closings, a few extra months will not be detrimental to this town.

I beseech Mrs. Hase and Mrs. Thorsell, as well as Mr. Cummerford and Mr. Norton to revisit in your minds the presentation and Q&A session by Mr. Louthen and ask yourselves if TBS is really the best solution for our community. While I found the very tough questions asked of Mr. Louthen to be fairly uncomfortable (as did he), his lack of adequate responses and sub-standard visuals lead me to think that you are making a long-term error in judgment. $100,000+ aside (a pittance, IMO), I do not feel that this town can burn 6-8 months and end up with little more than nicer, newer signage. And I take no comfort in the thinking that I will be able to say "I told you so" in a year when nothing is implemented.

On Monday night, I hope all will put their personal feelings aside and perform the jobs that you were elected to do. Do what is right for this town. Do what is right for its citizens. Stand down and continue to discuss the pros and cons of TBS versus another firm. There is no need to rush this decision.

Thanks Clam. Your genuine concern is evident in your post. It ain't gonna happen, but I thank you just the same.

Another way to put it Mrs. Hase and Mrs. Thorsell, Mr. Cummerford and Mr. Norton-If Mr. Louthen was a surgeon looking to perform a life saving procedure, would you go with him or would you get a second opinion?

Thanks Clam. We will be there to support what we believe in and give Candidate the reinforcement to continue to support us. Right?

Why do I think this is going to be an all nighter? If it starts at 8, one hour later than last monday, I don't see the end taking place Monday night. More like Tuesday morning.

I'd go but vociferous little minorities make me uncomfortable.

I thought the meeting started at 7:00 p.m.?

The Board meeting starts at 8:00pm. They do have a pre-board meeting that begins at 7:30pm that they use to clear up any last minute questions on items. Both are open to the public.

The Board meeting tonight should go relatively quickly to get to our agenda item. Last week it was so long because there were 2 other workshop presentations that we listened to before moving onto the Board meeting agenda. It still may be a long night, but most of it should be spent on the contract discussion.

I thought that Trustee Comerford and Trustee Lee were outstanding in their realistic look at the situation tonight. If you were not in attendance, do tune in to see the rerun of the meeting. However, the earlier workshop held at 7:30 proved to be the most informative. Again our own Candidate proved himself to be a great choice in trustees. He really does a great job!

Thanks Ted. That was worth staying up late — reading the story. While the Vociferous Little Minority's work is far from done, some progress has been made.

A very dignified action on the part of Mr. Comerford. It demonstrates true strength of character.

Very commendable move on Trustee Comerford's part. And in his act of class and honesty, he made the Trustee that offended the citizens of this town look worse.

How sad that Trustee Comerford felt the need to apologize. Says a lot about Trustee Norton.

I run this town. I rule this town. I say jump . . . and they ask, "How high?"

Regardless of the outcome, Mr. Comerford's attempt to put a band-aid on the hemorrhaging sense of public mistrust was a grand move and he should be commended for that. How a grown man such as Mr. Norton couldn't step up to the plate and do this himself is beyond me. That should have been said last week before the meeting adjourned. It is so easy and appropriate to apologize for a mistake and get on with the agenda. Nobody would have given it a second thought. May have been good for a little chuckle. Then it would have been over. And it is never too late to say you're sorry. Instead, the man sat there looking defeated, confused, tired and ticked off.

Yes, remember how powerful you were when you wanted them to select Houseal Lavigne? Errr, bad example.

Yes, remember how powerful you were when you didn't want them to put a Western cut for the clinic? Errr, bad example.

Yes, remember when you got the Village to pick up their collective sidewalk scrapers to help get the gunk off of the Village streets? Errr, bad example.

Yes, remember when you got the Village to start picking up the overflowing trash all along the CBD street...especially in front of Starbucks? Errr, bad example.

Yes, remember.......well........I think you're great.
