I for one, welcome our historical society overlords. I'm hoping this turns out to be a nice northern entrance into GE. Now if they can just do something with the old Marathon station across th street, what a mess that corner is.
Yoss - I was just driving through that intersection this morning and thinking to myself that it is more like "the armpit of the Village," instead of lovely gateway.
This should help move things along in a positive direction.
"Swedish man attacked with can of fermented fish. In other news, the Swedish eat fermented fish that smells like gorgonzola left in a Viking's jock strap and is banned by most airlines"
I just searched for your add and couldn't find it...

Let's forget about thread jacking being against the rules. There are no rules on this board, right? And if we cross the line, we have Ted to oversee that.
There is been a lot of conversation about sticking to the original topic on these threads, and we still aren't even close to being successful. My vote is it's a free for all!
Now back to the original topic. Good riddance to Five Corners Florist. The owners who wanted $700K for the property should be ashamed of themselves. It would take half that just to fix it up. Through arbitration they get $460K, less their attorney's fees of course. It won't take much to push that building over, I for one will be glad to see it. Get er' done!
I am not that passionate a supporter of the history corner and I am hopeful that the village isn't paying for any of it. I was a little surprised at what the village offered the owners of that building a couple of years back. The asking price seemed a little high, but how much is a corner lot worth on what the village hopes is the next (perhaps only) showcase of the village? Legal fees aside, I think the village stole the property.
