They stink. They were taken with my original Sony digital camera that has long been banished by my family to my golf bag.

Also, can I ask a question? Were you an investigative reporter or police officer before becoming the Trustee? You did a fine job collecting information for that meeting.

I actually was a Police officer in this town for twenty years as a volunteer back when half of our police dept was volunteer. This ended a few years back.

IMO, her interesting switch in thinking is what may have caused a lot of this problem. I find solace in the fact that TBS is only getting about $100K, not a million . . . or five million. I wish I could disagree with anyone else, Amy . . . but it has to be you. I still love you.

Well, Clam, I don't know what there is to not agree with. I wasn't at the meeting so, I was unaware of her denial. Of course, I never heard her say it either but I did read it in the paper. She obviously should come clean about why she changed her mind. I suspect she hadn't done as much in-depth research the first time around and was afraid to admit it. I don't know that though - we didn't really discuss that, specifically. Nonetheless, I do respect her. I'm sorry that she didn't come forth with a reasonable explanation about what she did/did not say in the first meeting.

OH, and I still love you, too. Big Grin

Clam can afford to buy 100 since he's not buying a new camera.

If somewhere were to order them tomorrow morning, chances are they will not be ready for Monday's meeting with the next day shipping, it would be Monday afternoon delivery at the earliest, which would be cutting it close. I would say 50/50 that they would be here. You would also have to be home to sign for them.

I do like the Glen!) and we all need to join the VM!!!

Mine went up 127%. TBS had better do a bang-up job to justify that. Perhaps bang-up is the wrong term.

And I want one of those t-shirts, in Large, please. Remember to also add the phrase "Jewel of the Western Suburbs" at the bottom.

Hi,

I felt bad that we were not able to make it to the meeting. Already lined up a sitter so we can attend the GoDowntown meeting at THG. Kudos to you who were in attendance, and who waited for hours to be heard. Sounds like quite a night.

My question is this; if there was a so-called "vociferous LITTLE minority" at the meeting, does this mean there is a MINORITY out there somewhere who hold a different opinion about the choice of Town Builders? Was there a larger group of people who showed up that night to support the decision to hire them? If not, I am having a hard time understanding why any Trustee would assume this group was a little minority. Can someone fill me in?

I KNEW I had heard the term 'vociferous little minority' before. It was used by the esteemed Jim Jones, of Jonestown Massacre fame, in an interview with Dennis Denny of the Department of Social Services. I wrote a paper on Jonestown in college and ever since I started reading this thread kept thinking to myself 'where have you heard that term before?'

Check it out...it was spoken by Jones about 3/4 of the way down the page. History Channel just showed a documentary on Jonestown...maybe Trustee Norton was watching and this stuck in his head.

MNSC--

The only people that spoke in favor of Town Builders were one or two people who just seemed to think that we need to move on and all be team players. I'm all for being a team player. However, after sitting through one of the most pitiful presentations I've ever seen, I don't understand how anyone could not think John Kenwood's idea of allowing the two leading firms to both prepare contracts for consideration was a brilliant idea. Town Builders has nothing in their portfolio that would indicate they are experienced in the type of project Glen Ellyn presents and is run by someone who may have some ethics issues. Vicki seems incapable of swallowing her pride and saying, you know, there is a better way to access this situation. It's all about power for her and not what is best for the village.

If Town Builders had even taken the time to read the posts on this board they would have already have had some ideas on what GEBD needs. I'm not convinced that the current leadership will even act of the recommendations, regardless of who does the study.

Edited because I am dumb.

Damn - prematurely edited. I wasn't dumb after all.

Cliff Note Version of my Post - WHY WASN'T THIS PROCURED PURSUANT TO AN RFP INSTEAD OF AN RFQ?

How that TBS dude didn't decline to pursue this contract after that meeting is beyond me. I thought he started out strongly after having to sit through the really cool fight at the front table, but he whithered after his presentation which was less than stellar, in my uneducated opinion. The questioning didn't help his cause, either.

Poor Chief Phil. He spent the majority of Monday night sitting on a chair outside the meeting room fulfilling what must be his obligation to attend board meetings. For the most he noodled about on a Blackberry-like device and minded his own business. Now GER posts this picture and calls for blood in the streets? Not very gentlemanly.
