My bad...I thought it was next to the high school..That is where Google maps showed Ellyn Place was. Did not know it picked up again south of Roosevelt. BTW, 4MP.... is it still GE south of Roosevelt? Wink You should share that story with the class.

Ha! Although some think Glen Ellyn's borders are Elm, Fairview, Western and Riford/Bryant, the fact is that they are a bit beyond those!

Would be happy to share the story in about ten months Wink!

Seeing that I just got back from vacation I will have to chime in late....
This happens to be a neighbor, S Ellyn is south of Roosevelt and east of Park. I have not had a chance to find out the results of the meeting. IMO they village would be doing a misservice if they did not allow this to pass. The family is asking for a variance that would increase their footprint by less then .5 percent. The family has lived in town for their entire life, give the monstrosities that the village has allow to be built on this block by McMasters, this should be a no brainer. However I have little faith that the board would taking into consideration that a family is simply trying to stay in GE and make their home a more livable place for thier family (multiple kids in bedrooms) while if they reject the propsal the house will likely be put on the market and sold, and probably be bought by the previously said builder and replaced by a $750K house that no one is buying, just like the other 2 on the block, and lord knows how much the Monster of all Monsters is being sold for now. These are Simple people looking for a simple answer to their housing issues, not looking to make several hundred thousand in a sale.

"Sorry folks, park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya."

I didn't want to say anything...but those were my thoughts, also. Not a very nice thing to say.

You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.

Gee I was expecting to get lambasted for bad mouthing the McMansion people, so I am more than willing to take the "simple people" ridicule. I mean to say that the owner is just doing what needs to be done to solve the housing issue that they face, without displacing the family outside of GE. I have a very lighthearted relationship with the mom and she would laugh off the "simple people" remark even if it was in the derogatory meaning, which it is not.

As I have heard the variance will hopefully be approved and we are very happy for them. In the meantime if you are looking for a oversized house, nearly twice the size of it's neighbor's, on this same block built by said McMansion company, it is on the market FSBO.
