Portion of an email from Bill Holmer, Deputy Chief of Police

"Coffee with the Cops is typically held on the first Saturday of the month. There was an error in the Daily Herald that indicated it would be held this Saturday when, in fact, it was held last Saturday. I apologize if you were caught in that confusion.

"Please look for advertisements in the Herald or on the downtown message board announcing upcoming dates, as low prior turnouts may affect future dates."

Emphasis mine. Use it or lose it, folks! --TedE.

Of all the times in the village's history to have low turnout for CWTC...so much complaining, so little participation.

BTW, when is the next Sunday morning CBD ciggy butt clean up?

Hey Clam, I was hoping we could shoot for late July or early August. Even though we discussed doing it mid-day or mid-afternoon to increase visibility (and get signatures), I think early morning or later in the evening might be better due to rising temperatures. What do you think?

BTW, I hope this will be our last one. (Unless we decide that some kind of once-a-year cleanup thing would be a good community event.) Now that we have a new, permanent, Village Manager coming on board, I hope we can sit down with him and get things moving in the right direction. Once we pick a date, I will contact the papers to publicize it and let people know we want signatures. Sound OK?

What happened to June's garbage? Certainly that month deserves attention as much as any other. Mid-day...no way. Whenever we do it, I can assure you that I have something to do mid-day. Also, mid-day = cars on the streets.

I know that you are suddenly the media maven...but can't we just do it to do it? For God's sake, let's just clean the streets. Smile

You all can do it but I am not available for the remainder of the month and when I threw out an earlier date, people pissed and moaned....so, got for it but I can't be there. Otherwise, give me a couple of suggestions for mid-late July or early August.

And Yoss, I haven't forgotten that I promised you a "donation" for your party. It's "slushing" in my freezer as I type. It was already slushing when my power went out, which set it back a bit but it's back on track. Smile

Saw a pretty cool response to a dude with a "I'd like you to give me money" sign pinned on his shirt....and carrying a freakin' Bible, to boot. Two police cars pulled up in front of SBUX at about 7:45AM and put an end to his shenanigans. They left him be...but explained at length what he could not do. Seemed to get their point across. Good for them. He was working his magic in front of SBUX, but had his half dozen bags piled in front of the coffee place that I have never stepped foot in....and I can't remember the name.

I saw that dude too....I figured he wasn't long for that location. It's called Java Juice...nope, Clean Coffee....or something like that.
