dailyherald.com...
The other night, for the second time in 2 1/2 weeks we have sat up in bed, hearing lots and lots of sirens and said "now what?" Two weeks ago there was the "man with a gun" incident at the Raintree apartments...What you never heard about that one? I guess you just have to get out of bed and go there to officially hear anything about it. Now this past week we have the incident that is mentioned in the daily herald article. It is alleged that a man was physically harming a women in the hallway of the Americas Best Value Inn & Suites on Rooosevelt and that he took out a gun and made threatening remarks to people who tried to confront him. I am glad to see that this made the newspaper. There are many of us in this area that say that these "Hotels" are an outright blight and a hotspot for trouble. I worry about allowing my kids to go to Panfish Park by themselves. I have personally made my concerns known to the highest of officals about questionable individuals that we see in the area and still do not feel as safe as I would like. And a questions slightly off topic...Is that an ambulance dispatch company running a business out of one of the hotel rooms? And if so, is Glen Ellyn recieving any taxes from it's operation? Yes darlili, I am talking about the Raintree Condo/Apartments, just West of Park Blvd. It was two thursdays ago, if my memory recalls. Our first worry was that Parkview was on fire. When you hear all of those sirens and see many many fire trucks go by and the sound of the sirens stop in the close proximity to the school, and you have memories of the Briar Glen incident, my mind thought of the school. BUT I was wrong.
